I am an experienced and multi-skilled Systems Administrator with over 7 years’ experience of implementing and supporting IT infrastructure in a diverse range of companies. I have an excellent track record of planning, installing and supporting systems, proactively optimising systems to ensure high availability and performance. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY Systems and Network Support Adviser Court of appeal of Timor-Leste (East Timor), May 2014 – present
The court of appeal is the highest court in East Timor and ensures consistent application of the law across the country, and administers the justice system on matters of law, constitution and elections.
Initially employed on a one-year contract through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) before being directly employed. Worked in the IT team, responsible for maintaining the IT infrastructure used by the four district courts and the court of appeal. Managed a team of three supporting the IT infrastructure for 300+ users. The
environment encompassed Windows and Linux servers, VMware, pfSense firewall, Dell switches, Storage, user administration, email and Java/PHP/Python application support , MySql and Postgresql databases.
Provided daily support for the systems including managing backups, virus management and patch management.
Maintained network services (Proxy, DNS, DHCP, traffic shaping, VPN, monitoring). Reviewed incoming support calls for priority and ensured timely fixes to minimise
business disruption. Project work included:
Reviewed server capacity and performance; recommended an upgrade plan, provided costings for approval and managed the upgrade (12 new systems).
Upgraded the network infrastructure; installed new VLANS and switches leading to a 50% increase in capacity.
Migrated 300+ users across to a new email system (Zimbra). Website and other internal tools development using general CMS such as
Wordpress. Supported the infrastructure for the web-based information management system
used by a wide range of stakeholders within the justice system. Implemented a new VoIP telephony system (Asterisk).
Network Analyst IDTECH, Goiânia, Brazil, Dec 2013 – May 2014
IDTECH is a non-profit company providing a range of IT services to clients within the government and healthcare sectors.
Part of a support team providing level 3 network support to both the head-office staff and clients. Used the in-house ticketing system to record and track issues and incidents, working in line
with agreed service levels. Successfully reduced the backlog of issues by 90% over a six-month period. Managed user accounts and profiles using Active Directory. Supported the in-house hardware engineering team by providing additional tools to improve
PC build times. Defined, documented and supported improved backup solutions. Implemented additional tools (Zabbix) to enable more proactive system monitoring of client
connections and systems. Developed a number of scripts within the Zabbix environment to automatically fix issues,
leading to improved customer service and a reduction in support calls. Created and maintained a wiki-style knowledge base to enable faster resolution of support
calls and improve knowledge sharing within the support team.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY (cont.) Network Administrator Mococa SA Produtos Alimentícios, Goiânia, Brazil, Jun 2012 – Dec 2013 Mococa SA Food Products is a Brazilian producer of dairy products such as condensed milk, milk drinks, sauces, milk powder, butter and whipped cream.
Worked in a team supporting a userbase of 500+ based across two head-office locations and two factory sites. Worked on a rota basis to support business operations (24 x 7), ensuring that critical
systems were maintained and the firewall was secure. Managed a major infrastructure upgrade in order to replace aging hardware and to
standardise equipment. The successful upgrade significantly improved network reliability and reduced support calls. Upgraded the network bandwidth, implemented pfSense routers and firewall, and
3Com switches. Installed a secondary connection, implemented resiliency and load balancing Reduced the number of physical servers through increased virtualisation (Citrix). Updated the domain, upgraded VPNs and file sharing capabilities. Implemented improved anti-virus capabilities.
Migrated the cloud-based email system from an externally hosted solution to an in-house Zimbra-based solution in order to provide increased control and reliability. Developed scripts to automate the user mailbox migration.
Visited factory locations as part of the firewall upgrade and in response to support calls. Identified a suitable vendor and implemented a new video-conferencing facility.

G8 Networks is a small telecoms company providing a range of services to clients in Brazil in diverse industry sectors including government, media and utilities.
Initially joined G8 Networks as a VoIP analyst alongside studying at university, and following graduation moved into a more project-oriented role.
