1) 社會正義 (Social Justice)

Aristotle, justice( 正義 ) requires treating equally ( 平等 ) unless they have differences that would justify unequal treatment.

Utilitarian justice ( 實利正義 ) maximizing the overall satisfaction of individual

interests, and maximizing the overall good to whole society, including the future generation and animals. ( 個體、社會、未來世代和其他動物的利益滿足 )

Peter Singer’s defense of animal welfare ( 動物福利 ) illustrates another application of utilitarian justice.

Many philosophers 反對。因為追求集體的最大幸福，而可能會犧牲個人的利益。 Justice requires that individuals ( 個體 ) not be treated as mere means to the end of producing beneficial social outcomes.

John Rawls’s theory

Two fundamental principles of justice( 正義 ) 1. Each individual is to have equal rights to

the most extensive system of liberties.2. Social and economic benefits( 利益 ) and

burdens( 責任 ) should be distributed equally unless an unequal distribution would benefit the least advantaged members of society.

Property rights ( 資產權 )

The right of private property ( 私人資產權利 ) lies at the heart of social justice ( 社會正義 ), and if environmental initiatives violate that right, they are unjust.

Johan Locke’s argument, unowned land( 無主土地 )1. People have exclusive rights over- that is, they

“own” – their bodies and their labor.2. Land, in its natural state, is unowned;3. When someone’s labor, which is owned, comes to

be “mixed” with land that is unowned, that person’s exclusive rights over his or her labor are transferred to the land. The person comes to own the land.

對 Locke’s argument 的批評1. 為何個人投入「勞力」就可擁有「無主土地」？2. 我個人投入勞力，可以從土地獲取收穫，但未必然就可獲取土地所有權。3. 倘若我投入勞力，是破壞性的？4. 案例：蘭嶼達悟族的文化，土地只有使用權。5. 倘若可有擁有權，這必然要有剩下許多 ( 足夠的，且一樣好的 ) 土地給其他人，有機會擁有。

Environmental Justice ( 環境正義 )

Environmental justice investigates the social distribution of environmental benefits and burdens.

A society that distributes these benefits and burdens unequally is prima facie unjust.

Racial Justice ( 種族正義 ) If you are a person of color, you are much more

likely to live in an area where toxic dumps, landfills, incinerators, and polluting industries are or will be located.

Poor countries are more likely to suffer environmental degradation– deforestation, desertification, and air and water pollution– than wealthy countries.

2) Murray Bookchin’s social ecology

層級 (hierarchies) 概念： 具體的存在：優勢的團體，劣勢的團體 意識 (consciousness) 狀態：當優勢的享受歡愉和滿足的時候，劣勢的需要學習接受辛勤、勞苦和犧牲的生活。例如：印度的階級信仰。

社會的宰制結構，先於對大自然的宰制。 社會以「宰制」和「控制」的能力來定義「成功」。這種「成功」的定義，也可擴展到對大自然的宰制和控制。

2) Murray Bookchin’s social ecology

人類可以有覺知 (conscious) 和自決 (self-determing) 的能力。

社會沒有任何宰制和控制的情況 ( 包括社會的、法律的、智力的和情緒的壓迫 ) ，這樣才是正義的社會。 了解生態危機的根源，必須先了解社會是如何運作。

永續農業和適宜科技，可以使決策去中心化，只有社區可永續和自足，人們才能獲得真正的自由，並與大自然和諧相處。

生態女性主義 (Eco-feminism)

Eco-feminism, Francoise d’Eaubonne (1974) 創的名詞。 人對大自然和女性的宰制 (domination), 兩者間，有密切的關連 (Warren, 1990) 。

主張以關心 (care) 和關係 (relationship) 為基礎，面對環境的問題。 發揮女性天生的特質，關懷地球環境。 女性美德，母愛。 ( 德行的觀點 )

女性主義的類型1. 自由女性主義 (Liberal feminism)

男人與女人，無差異 凡人都有自由與理性的本質。

2. 馬克思女性主義 (Marxist feminism) 勞動生產，女人可與男人相同

3. 社會女性主義 (socialist feminism) 社會文化 ( 關係網絡、經濟和角色 ) ，壓抑女性

4. 基進女性主義 (radical feminism) 男性與女性，有差別。各有不同的特質。 發揮女性的優質特質。

生態女性主義基進生態學，文化的生態女性主義。

女性文化 (women’s culture) 生態關懷，關心和關係的基礎 靈修運動 (spirituality movement)

關心的倫理 (ethics of care) 關心 (care) 、關係 (relationships) 、愛 (love) 、責任 (responsibility) 、信任 (trust) 的價值。

關心他人，取代權利和義務的約束；合作關係，取代衝突對峙。靈修運動 (spirituality movement)

大地女神 (Gaia) ：女性、大自然和神性，三者合一。

蓋亞假說 (Gaia hypothesis)

Lovelock (1969) 提出，蓋亞假說。假若 35 億年前地球上並沒有生命出現，且至今亦都一直沒有生命存在，地球目前的環境將會是如何？沒有生命存在的地球，其大氣中充滿二氧化碳 (98 ％ ) ，而缺乏氧氣；其地表的平均溫度可高達 290℃( 表 1) 。

沒有生命存在的地球與金星相似，但與有生命的地球之差距有如天壤之別 ( 表 1)
