Rubric ENG 102BC Annotated Bibliography Directions: Choose a topic. For this assignment, research and select five articles about your topic. Only one source may be from an internet search engine. Each source must be documented in MLA format. For each source, at least one in-text citation must include an attributive tag. At least one in-text citation must be basic and include correct parenthetical information. The summary paragraph shows a clear division of the stages of thought. These divisions expand upon the paragraph’s topic sentence. The summary shows brevity, completeness, objectivity, and avoids plagiarism (including patch-writing). The critique paragraph includes an assessment of the author’s presentation of the topic by commenting on the author’s success in achieving his/her purpose by reviewing 3 or 4 specific points. A personal response to the presentation must be included in the essay. Grammar and mechanics will also be graded for accuracy. Particular attention will be given to topics already covered in class. More than ten grammatical errors will result in “no grade.” Evidence of each stage of the writing process must be submitted: prewrite (brainstorming); planning (outline); drafting; revising (peer review form); and publishing (final copy).
