    Group: Integrated

    Goal: Increase verbal interaction with peers through group singing.

    When passing a hand drum around student will play and say his/her nameone time by the end of the first class.

    During a goodbye song the student will make eye contact and say goodbye tohis/her peers by the end of the second class. During planned break in lyrics of song, student will face another student and

    answer the question posed by the song with a maximum of one prompt after

    by the end of the third class.

    When verbally requested by another student, student will verbally state howhe/she feels after five classes.

    Goal: Student will increase impulse control by playing musical instruments in a class

    by the end of the year.

    Student will demonstrate the ability to clap a steady beat to theinstrumental section throughout the duration of a short song after thesession for the first quarter of the school year.

    Child will hold a tambourine as each peer taps and says hello after twoclasses.

    Student will demonstrate consecutive turn taking with a peer at leastfive times by the end of each session for a period of five classes.

    During group playing the student will demonstrate the ability to playa steady beat with the group instead of making up his/her own

    rhythms by the end of the third quarter.

    Group: Self-Contained

    Goal: To increase creative self-expression through song writing.

    Students will select instruments that reflect their current feelings after onesession.

    Students will select a season to write a song about after two classes anddescribe characteristics of the season.

    Students will choose instruments to demonstrate sounds to reflect thatseason after three classes.

    Using the selected topic, each student will provide at least one originalphrase to contribute to the song by the end of four classes.

    Goal: Students will demonstrate the ability to share, take turns, and follow

    directions by playing drums.

    Students will pass one drum around while sitting in a circle and when cuedeach child will take a turn playing it after one class.

    Students will pass two drums around in the same direction after two classes. Students will pass two drums around in opposite directions after three

    classes.

    Students will pass three drums around the circle according to differentdirection cues given by the music therapist after four classes.

    Group: Individual

    Goal: To structure and pace arm and hand movements using various musicalactivities.

    During music and movement activities, the student will move arm indirection up or down with at least 6 movement between both directions

    when modeled by the therapist.

    Student will extend his right arm and strike the tambourine with his fingersin accompaniment to a selected song during one session.

    Student will hold a mallet and strike the bars of a pentatonic xylophone asthe music therapist accompanies him/her after three sessions.

    Student will perform at least half of the actions during the song HokeyPokeyafter four sessions.

    Goal: The student will demonstrate the ability to differentiate left and right using

    songs and instrumental music.

    Student will tap one hand on various body parts keeping a steady beat afterone session.

    Student will tap left hand to right knee keeping a steady beat to a one-minutesong after two sessions.

    Student will alternate tapping between left and right keeping a steady beat toa one to two-minute long song after three sessions.

    Student will tap according to direction stated by the therapist while keepinga steady beat to a three-minute song.
