The Hadhrami (Arabic: ) orHadharem (Arabic: ) are people
from the Hadhramaut region of Yemenand their descendants in diasporacommunities around the world. Theyspeak Hadhrami Arabic.
The Hadharem have a long sea-faring andtrading tradition which has seen themmigrate in large numbers all around theIndian Ocean basin, from the Horn ofAfrica and the Swahili Coast in East Africato the Malabar Coast and Hyderabad,
India in South India, and to MaritimeSoutheast Asia.[1]
There are Hadharem communities in thetrading ports of the Arab Gulf states andthe Red Sea. The money changers ineddah, Saudi Arabia have usually been of
Hadrami origin.[2]
Hadhrami communities can also be foundin Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti,
Mozambique and Madagascar.[3]
