VOCATION PERSPECTIVE Dear Agathians: Is an hour enough? That was the
ques on I found myself asking during Mass one Sunday. I’m sure I have challenged my mother most Sundays when she would drag me to church as a kid. Now that I am a young adult, I’ve realized that the Church has brought joy, support and growth into my life.
As Catholics, the Church teaches that we should go to Mass every Sunday, unless we have a serious reason not to go, such as an illness. This “Sunday obliga on” is a teaching that is intended to remind us how important it is to come together as a community to worship God. For many years, however, instead of going to church to grow in my rela onship with God and with other Catholics, I just went because that’s what I was supposed to do.
Our church community should be like our Catholic family. Think about your own family. Do you think your rela onships with your parents or with your siblings would flourish if you reduced them to only an hour every week? Just as we share life with our family at home, we’re called to share life with our church community. This community should be the place we go to share our successes, to get support when we are struggling, and to help out where we are needed.
For me, the turning point came when I made a conscious decision to invest in my parish community. I started to get involved in the day‐to‐day life of the parish. I invested my me at the children’s choir as a teen and, as a young adult, I started to invest my me with the youth. If you’re looking for one way to invest more in your church, this is a great place to start. Be part of the youth group, sign up to be a reader at Mass, or volunteer to become a catechist. It’s by par cipa ng that we enter into community life.
There are no shortcuts. You can’t just fill up your calendar with church‐based ac vi es and hope for the best. You’ve got to put in the me and energy that it takes to form authen c rela onships. If you’re willing to make an effort, you will see a change in your life.

HOLY HOUR for VOCATIONS Our Parish Voca on Commi ee will conclude our Novena
to the Sacred Heart with a special Holy Hour this Monday, July 1st, at 7:00 PM in the Upper Church, to pray for more holy priests and religious to help us sanc fy the world. At the end of the Holy Hour, we will present our Voca on Chalice to a family to take home and pray daily for voca ons un l next

INDEPENDENCE DAY
The rectory will be closed this Thursday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day. Our 7:00 PM Spanish Mass that day will also be cancelled.
FIRST THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY DEVOTIONS
This Thursday, July 4th, at 11:00 AM, our Chinese parishioners will observe a Holy Hour in the Convent Chapel. On Friday, July 5th, our Spanish‐speaking parishioners will stay in the Upper Church from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM to adore the Blessed Sacrament. On Saturday, July 6th, our English‐speaking parishioners will have a First Saturday Devo on a er the 8:45 AM Mass in the Convent Chapel. All are invited to our three days of devo ons.
FR. LEW’S ANNIVERSARY Father Lewis Maynard spent almost 20 out of his 50 years
of being a priest in our parish. We are happy and honored that he decided to celebrate his Golden Anniversary with us. On Saturday, July 6th, our 7:00 PM Spanish Mass will be cancelled. Fr. Lew will celebrate a bilingual (English and Spanish) Mass at 5:00 PM. A er Mass, the celebra on will con nue with a recep on in the Lower Church. All are invited.
BIBLE CAMP Please register now for our parish’s Summer Bible Camp

PERSPECTIVA VOCACIONAL Queridos Agatinos: ¿Es una hora su iciente? En un domingo, esa fue la
pregunta que me encontré haciendo durante la Misa. Cuando era niña, estoy segura de que desa iaba a mi madre la mayor parte de los domingos cuando me arrastraba para ir a la iglesia. Ahora que soy una joven adulta, me he dado cuenta de que la Iglesia me ha traı́do alegrı́a, apoyo y ha dado crecimiento a mi vida.
Como católicos, la Iglesia enseña que debemos ir a misa todos los domingos, a menos que tengamos una razón seria para no asistir, como una enfermedad. Esta “obligación del domingo” es una enseñanza que intenta recordarnos lo importante que es unirnos como una comunidad para adorar a Dios. Sin embargo, durante muchos años, en lugar de ir a la iglesia para crecer en mi relación con Dios y con otros católicos, solo fui porque eso es lo que se suponı́a que debı́a hacer.
Nuestra comunidad eclesial debe ser como nuestra familia católica. Piensa en tu propia familia. ¿Piensas que tu relación con tus padres o con tus hermanos lorecerı́an si los redujeras a solo una hora cada semana? Al igual que compartimos la vida con nuestra familia en casa, estamos llamados a compartir la vida con nuestra comunidad eclesial. Esta comunidad debe ser el lugar donde vayamos a compartir nuestros éxitos, para obtener apoyo cuando estamos necesitados y para ayudar en donde nos necesiten.
Para mı́, el punto crucial se produjo cuando tomé una decisión consciente de invertir en mi comunidad parroquial. Comencé a involucrarme en el dı́a a dı́a de la parroquia. Invertı́ mi tiempo en el coro de niños cuando era adolescente y, como joven adulta, comencé a invertir mi tiempo con la juventud. Si está buscando una forma de invertir más en su iglesia, este es un excelente lugar para comenzar. Sea parte del grupo de jóvenes, inscrı́base para leer en la misa, o sea voluntario para convertirse en catequista. Es al participar que entramos en la vida comunitaria.
No hay atajos. No puedes simplemente llenar tu calendario con actividades basadas en la iglesia y esperar lo mejor. Tienes que dedicarle tiempo y energı́a necesaria para formar relaciones auténticas. Si estás dispuesto a hacer un esfuerzo, verás un cambio en tu vida.

HORA SANTA por las VOCACIONES Nuestro Comité Parroquial de Vocaciones concluirá nuestra
Novena al Sagrado Corazón con una Hora Santa este lunes, 1 de julio, a las 7:00 p.m. en la iglesia de arriba, para orar por más sacerdotes santos y religiosos que nos ayuden a santi icar el mundo. Al inal de la Hora Santa, presentaremos nuestro Cáliz Vocacional a una familia para llevar a casa y orar diariamente por las vocaciones hasta el próximo mes. Todos están invitados.

El sábado, 6 de julio, hay Devoción del Primer Sábado en ingles después de la Misa de las 8:45 a.m. en la capilla del convento. Todos están invitados a nuestros tres dı́as de devociones.
ANIVERSARIO de PADRE LEWIS
El Padre Lewis Maynard pasó casi 20 de sus 50 años como sacerdote en nuestra parroquia. Nos alegra y honra que haya decidido celebrar su aniversario de oro con nosotros. El sábado, 6 de julio, nuestra Misa de las 7:00 p.m. en español será cancelada. Padre Lew celebrará una misa bilingüe (inglés y español) a las 5:00 p.m. Después de la Misa, la celebración continuará con una recepción en la iglesia de abajo. Todos están invitados.

圣召视角 亲爱的亚佳德人：
一个小时够了吗？我在一台主日的弥撒里问自己
这样一个问题。我敢肯定，小时候大多数的主日妈妈
拽拉着我去教堂的时候，我给了妈妈很大的挑战。现
在我是一个年轻人，我意识到教会给我的生命带来了
喜乐、支持和成长。
作为天主教徒，教会教导我们每个星期天都应该
参与弥撒，除非我们有充分的理由不去，比如生病。
这个“主日罢工”是一个教导，旨在提醒我们以团体
的方式聚在一起朝拜天主是很重要的。然而，多年来
我去教堂只是因为这是我应该做的，而不是为了能在
天主和其他教友的关系中成长。
我们的教堂应该如同我们
的天主教大家庭。想一想你自
己的家庭。你认为如果你和父
母或兄弟姐妹每周只在一起一
个小时，会使你们的关系加深
吗？正如我们和家人在家中分
享生命，我们也被召叫和我们
的教堂团体分享生命。这个团
体应该是一个我们可以分享成
功，在挣扎时得到支持，在需
要时得到帮助的地方。
对我而言，我的转折点是
当我做了一个郑重的决定要投身到教堂团体的时候。
我开始参与堂区的日常活动。儿童的时候我把时间花
在儿童歌咏团，作为年轻人，我开始把时间投入到青
少年身上。如果你正在寻找投入教堂的方式，这是一
个很好的起点。参加青少年团体，报名做弥撒中的读
经员，或自愿做一位要理老师。只有藉着参与，我们
才得进入团体生活。
没有捷径可走。你不能只用教堂的活动来填满日
程，而希望最好的结果。你必须投入时间和精力来培
养真实的关系。如果你愿意付出一点努力，你会看到
生活中的变化。

路易斯神父的晋铎金庆 路易斯神父（Fr. Lew）50年的铎职生涯中有近20
年的时间在我们堂区度过。我们非常荣幸他决定和我
们一起庆祝他的晋铎金庆。7月6日（星期六），下午
七点的西班牙文弥撒将取消，路易斯神父将在下午五
点庆祝双语（英文和西班牙文）的弥撒。弥撒之后继
续在底楼教堂庆祝，邀请大家参加。
圣经营 请尽快报名参加我们堂区的圣经夏令营，从7月8
