一週的第一天，天還很早，婦女們便攜帶預備下的香料，來到墳墓那裡，見石頭已

由墓穴滾開了。她們進去，不見了主耶穌的遺體。她們正為此事疑慮的時候，忽然有

兩人，穿著耀目的衣服，站在她們身邊。她們都害怕，遂把臉垂向地上，那兩個人對

她們說：「你們為什麼在死人中找活人呢？他不在這裡了，他已復活了。你們應當記得：

他還在加里肋亞時，怎樣告訴過你們，說：人子必須被交付於罪人之手，被釘在十字

架上，並在第三日復活。」她們遂想起了他的話，從墳墓那裡回去，把這一切事報告

給那十一門徒及其餘的眾人，她們是瑪利亞瑪達肋納及約安納和雅各伯的母親瑪利亞；

其餘同她們一起的婦女，也把這些事報告給宗徒。但婦女們的這些話，在他們看來，

好像是無稽之談，不敢相信。伯多祿卻起來跑到墳墓那裡，屈身向裡窺看，只見有殮布，

就走了，心裡驚異所發生的事。 （路 24: 1-12）

復活節體驗給我的喜樂

　 我喜愛那唱著跟救主有關的歌曲時，進入內心

的平安與喜樂。其中一首我所喜愛的歌曲，有如下

的歌詞：「因為祂活著，我才能面對明天（Because

He lives, I can face tomorrow）。」最近，我常

讓自己浸淫在這首特別的歌曲中。這首歌，為我的

復活節經驗，帶來了很大的不同。這一年的復活節，

特別使我感動，彷彿每一天都充滿了天主的愛似的。

這一年我預備充足，這是從來沒有試過的——我預

早為每一個星期作準備，連走路的時候也不忘低吟

那些讚美詩。

　　為復活節反省的時候，我問自己，究竟是甚麼

使這一年比以往更為特別？我很清楚，當中不乏上

面提及的音樂。我曾經遇過喪失至愛的人，去世的，

都太年輕。面書上，曾有人貼過一張深深打動我的

照片。照片一邊是救主擁抱一個女人的圖片，上面

還寫著：「因為祂的緣故，沒有永遠的離別。」另

外一邊的照片，是這位女士的女兒的墓塚，她在下

面寫著：「因為祂，我的小天使終會再起來的。大

家復活節快樂！」當我讀到這些充滿盼望的文字時，

復活的真正喜樂，立時清晰起來。我們常用不同的

方法去宣講救主的犧牲，但這簡單不過的真理，卻

從來不是我關心的重點。

　　我十三歲時，祖母臥病在床。她常請我們向耶

穌祈禱，求耶穌快來接她。她說：「終有一天，我

會跟祂一起的。」有一次，我問她為何不怕死亡，

她的回答何其簡明：「因為耶穌活著，我也一樣會

活著的。」這就是我祖母的信德了。

　

　回首過去，我曾經對自己的死亡感到非常恐懼。

不過到了現在，祖母的話已為我的生命帶來一點不

同了。

　　這兩位女性，還有她們對這份普世大禮的理解，

我念茲在茲，使這個復活節為我更為特別。過去每

一年，我都在思考復活節的意義，直到今天，我才

有一點認識。我只是黑暗裡的一點，但我為復活節

所做的準備、歌頌復活的喜樂詩篇、天主對我們的

愛，卻年復一年的開展了我的心胸。復活節是慶祝

喜樂的！往日，每當想到基督對我的犧牲時，我都

感到悲傷和痛苦。我因自己有份造成基督所受的苦

而深深自責，只希望祂不用再忍受這樣巨大的痛苦。

可是現在我更清楚知道，祂的苦難，實在是一份禮

物。祂深愛我們，給我們機會，讓我們能再活一次，

與天主再次一起。在祂犧牲以前，我們因沒有資格

而註定要遠離天主而生活；但祂為了我們，在這鴻

溝之上建了一道橋樑。這是前所未有，後無來者的；

而且他又是如此心甘情願的去做的。是的，他真是

愛的禮物——「因為祂活著，我才能面對明天」。

　　我深深感激我的救主耶穌，因為祂不但願意下

降凡塵，且活出如此純潔的生命，讓我們知道一個

人應當如何。祂改變了世界，也改變了我。

　　慈悲禧年已經開始了。容我以教宗方濟各的一

番話來結束：「不安和恐懼，跟被愛的男男女女並

不相稱，讓我們通通拋開。相反，讓我們經歷那改

變一切的恩寵所帶來的喜樂吧。」

棒來拘捕自己的施暴者；一邊則是跟自己在一起，被當為強盜暴徒的抗暴者（路 22: 52）。耶穌沒有厚責抗暴者，他們本來就不是強盜暴徒，耶穌只說了一句「至此為止」（路 22: 51）；對於施暴者，耶穌則展示了極大的愛德——他摸了傷者的耳朵，治好他（路 22: 51）。這是和好啊！這不但是在言語上，對錯誤地以暴易暴的抗暴者的和好，而且是在行動上跟敵人的修和！

　　

　　面對社會上的紛爭和衝突，我們一方面要明辨是非，理清事情的緣由，不可亂下判斷，厚責他人；另一方面，也是更重要的，就是要與人修和，哪怕是敵人！教宗方濟各要求我們在慈悲特殊禧年履行「神形哀矜」，當中「神哀矜」就包括「教導愚蒙、勸人回改、赦人侮辱、忍耐磨難」，在「山園祈禱」、「耶穌被捕」中，耶穌把這幾項「神哀矜」善工發揮到極致了！不要忘了，「神哀矜」還包括「為生者死者祈求」，讓我們一起追隨主耶穌基督的腳步，恆常祈禱，祈求天主聖神的安慰和領導。

　露德聖母，為我等祈 !　

主！祢曾因拉匝祿的死亡而落淚，因此，祢會明白親友離世

時，我們如何傷心難過。求祢堅固我們的信仰，並求祢賜給亡者永

恆的生命。

請為本堂區最近離世的教友祈禱，願他們安抵天鄉，得見

天主的慈顏 :

　　聖週剛過，大家又重溫了主耶穌受難與復活的事蹟，想必記憶猶新。教宗方濟各鼓勵教友，在這個慈悲特殊禧年，勤讀天主聖言，尤其是《路加福音》。其中第廿二章「山園祈禱」和「耶穌被捕」兩個情節，很值得細讀。　　　　到橄欖山祈禱，是耶穌的習慣，不過這次跟以往很不同——耶穌知道，當晚他就要被當權者拘捕。他要麼留下，要麼逃避，在兩者之間痛苦掙扎。在這個時間，他選擇祈禱。門徒沒有意識到這個時刻當中的危機，所以耶穌先後提醒了他們兩次——要祈禱，免得陷於誘惑（路 22: 40, 46）。　　　　面對當權者、施暴者的來臨，耶穌當時極為惶恐驚慌。不過他面對恐懼的方法，就是越發懇切的祈禱（路 22: 44）。祈禱，讓我們依靠天主。天主回應耶穌的方式，就是派遣天使，加強耶穌的力量（路 22: 43）。我們看不見天使，不過天主總在我們遇到困難時，派遣聖神作施慰者。面對壓迫和暴力，我們需要內心的平安、堅忍的精神。耶穌面對施暴者仍能冷靜鎮定，無疑是祈禱的果效。

　　耶穌雖然兩度提醒門徒要警醒祈禱，不過門徒卻沒有打醒精神，反而憂悶而昏睡（路 22: 45）。耶穌祈禱而獲得力量，門徒怠忽而鹵莽行事。面對施暴者，有門徒決定以眼還眼、以牙還牙，請求耶穌容許他以武力抵抗（路 22: 409）。根據若望福音，這位門徒就是伯多祿（若 18: 10）。耶穌還沒有來得及阻止，伯多祿就用劍把大司祭僕人的耳朵削了下來（路 22: 50）。因為沒有祈禱，一旦面對暴力，就難以免於誘惑了。面前一邊是要用刀劍棍

　　小薯仔在學校不時會有小組分享的時間，同

工分享得最多的話題通常是：「最近有甚麼值

得感恩的事呢？」各人的答案都有所不同，有

些是有關家庭、有些是有關工作的，但我每次

的答案卻是同一個：「我感恩每天能自行呼吸、

能說話、能活動自如。」

　　不是嗎？這些看似最簡單不過的事，許多

人都視為理所當然的事；可是在我看來，卻不

是必然，我們所擁有的一切，都是天父給我們

的恩寵。在每人身上我們都看到不同的恩典，

而怎樣去運用這些恩典，就是天父給我們的功

課。想到這裡，我腦海中又泛起天父的話語：

　　「神恩雖有區別，卻是同一的聖神所賜；

職分雖有區別，卻是同一的主所賜；功效雖有

區別，卻是同一的天主，在一切人身上行一切

事。聖神顯示在每人身上雖不同，但全是為人

的好處。」

　　盼望我們各人都能盡力做好天父給我們的

本份，每天也能從小事上感恩，相信一點點累

積起來，大家會有滿滿的力量迎接每一天。

公教老師朝聖之旅

在活動中找回在家庭中的角色

　　天主教聖母聖心小學於一月十二日下午，舉行了公教教師聚會。校內十位公教老師，一起到大埔聖母無玷之心堂朝聖，以慶祝慈悲特殊禧年。

　　當天各公教老師於堂區集合，並由堂區領禱員帶領，於教堂內四個朝聖點——恩澤長廊、聖門、祭台及聖體櫃、與聖母岩——祈禱。老師們從天主創世之初對人類救恩的許諾開始，反思自己在工作中的召叫。看著堂區的歷史照片，尤其是五十多年

　　本校天主教同學會一直在學校舉辦不同的宗教活動，希望能讓同學更認識天主。在上學期，我們一共舉辦了六個活動。每一次的活動都給了我不同的體驗和感受。

　　其中印象特別深的是在十二月六日舉辦的關社活動。活動的主題是如何與家人相處，活動中有一個角色扮演的環節，同學們都十分投入，甚至有一名男同學扮演女兒的角色，他的一舉一動都令眾人捧腹大笑，至今我仍然記憶猶新！

　　活動結束前，同學圍成一圈，並互相分享日常生活中和家人相處的趣事。透過反思，眾人都明白到天主希望眾人能孝順父母，善盡子女的本份和責任。　　　下學期我們會舉辦更多活動，特別是每年都有的「福傳週」。希望這些活動都能讓同學繼續學習天主的道理，並在生活中實踐出來。請大家繼續為我們一班年青人祈禱，天主保祐！

前學生在聖堂（聖母聖心小學舊址）上課的照片，老師都感受到教會藉教育事業為兒童所做的培育工作——「解人疑惑，教導愚蒙」。　　藉這次朝聖和祈禱，各公教老師都對天主的召叫、聖體聖事的滋養、聖神一直的引領而感恩。大家都希望能在教育崗位上更加努力，以實踐基督的愛，傳達知識與真理。

聖方濟．亞西西St. Francis of Assisi

善會信仰小品

「我給你們一條新命令，你們該彼此相愛！」( 若 13：34)

你對「聖母軍」的認識有多少？

　 「聖母軍」是堂區眾多善會之一，是一個特別重視傳教工作的信仰小團體。透過學習聖母的德行、恆常祈禱和堅决孝愛天主，以求達致「成聖自己、聖化他人」的使命。聖母軍的精神就是聖母的精神。

　　我們的使命是發揮和推動教友的傳教精神，將天主的「愛」傳到我們服務的每一角落。我們每週都要開會和工作，工作範疇有好幾個，對象也包括教友和非教友。在大埔這個老化社區，探訪長者是必不可少的工作，諸如家居探訪、護老院探訪等，目的是給與長者所需的關愛、分享他們的生活點滴、聆聽他們的舊日往事，讓他們從傾訴中得到紓解、心靈得到慰藉。我們還會在適當時候給他們講述基督的救世事蹟，帶出耶穌對世人的愛和犧牲，讓他們認識天主。在福傳活動中，如接觸到的是教友，我們會鼓勵他們多祈禱和唸經；如非教友，我們則會效法聖母的德行，關愛他們，使他們從我們身上看到聖母和耶穌。此外，聖母軍還會協助堂區舉辦各類型的福傳活動，如街頭福傳、「愛心飯局」等；又會在聖誕期間參與明愛護老院的聯歡會，以話劇演繹聖經故事；也會到不同的護老院報佳音等。

　　最令我感受深刻，且最鼓舞我們的，就是去年有多位慕道者，獲我們教授要理後，已成為天主教徒，今年的復活節又將有一位長者受洗。　　　我們深信，福傳工作的成功，不是我們的功勞；是天主的臨在、聖母媽媽的同行，使我們完成這些非我們能力所及的艱巨任務。這絕對是天主聖三，以及與主契合的聖母的福佑所產生的成果；這也是我們聖母軍的宗旨——「偕用聖母、邁向基督」的實際體驗。如欲進一步認識聖母軍，歡迎聯絡我們（可賜電團長梁詠兒，電話 5193 7783）。

信德 行動 恩寵　 前幾天，我們高興地慶祝主耶穌基督復活的大喜訊。但是，我們有好好珍惜祂為人類犧牲自己寶貴生命的這個恩寵嗎？祂在二千多年前受盡苦難，傾盡寶血，把我們從罪惡的奴役中，高價贖回來。我們現在卻在幹什麼？像載伯德的兒子一樣依戀權勢？像法利塞人一樣著重表象的虔敬？抑或是視錢財為主人？

　　耶穌基督在短短的三年傳教生活中教導了許多道理：愛人如己丶寬恕之道丶真正的虔誠丶真福八端等。這些道理都引導我們參與天國的盛宴。教會更加把耶穌的教導具體化——列出形哀矜和神哀矜各七項（《要理問答》第 197 問和 198 問）。我們已經度過了三分之一個慈悲禧年，大家想必都聽過形哀矜和神哀矜；這些慈悲善工源遠流長，教宗方濟各於慈悲特殊禧年詔書重新強調，目的就是要我們再次重視。

　　這四個月以來，我們又做了多少呢？聖保祿宗徒在寫給羅馬人的信件中指出，所有的人，不論是猶太人或外邦人，只要是信賴耶穌基督的福音，就能夠得救（羅 1: 16-17）；宗徒雅各伯就說：信德不只是一個理論，而且是一種生活方式，真正的信德必然付諸行動。在餘下的慈悲禧年，大家不要只說不做；請大家以行動活出天主的慈悲，好叫大眾都能認出我們是天主的子女。

　慈悲禧年專頁

　　教友領聖體聖事，往往比較自然；但對修和聖事，則往往提不起勁。相信不少教友都有以下的「恐懼」或「疑難」。你是否有相同的感受？讓神父為大家解開心結吧！

問 1：如果我沒有甚麼大過犯，每次犯錯之後都發痛悔，為什麼「聖教四規」還規定教友要每年最少辦一次修和聖事？答 1：首先，告解聖事給予我們一個省察自己靈魂的機會，很多次我們以為自己沒有過失，卻在省察後發現了一些嚴重的問題；又或我們以為自己沒有大過失，卻在告解時得到神父指引，才知道犯了嚴重的罪過。因此，聖教會明智地敦促教友，應勤辦告解。再者，聖事是耶穌創立的，為給予我們最大的恩寵，就是聖寵的生命，我們又怎能輕視耶穌的智慧和愛情呢？

問 2：我擔心透露過犯給神父知道，會使神父對我有不好的觀感，這是真的嗎？答 2：如果你不相信神父的寬宏，也請至少相信神父的善忘。哪位神父在聽了這麼多告解後，還會記得誰犯過甚麼罪呢？而且，聽告解的神父很清楚一件事，他自己也是個罪人，如果不是耶穌賜予赦罪的權柄，他又有甚麼資格赦人的罪？他又有甚麼資格對人有不好的觀感？

問 3：要面對神父告明自己的罪過，實在難以啟齒，究竟如何才能克服心理障礙呢？答 3：第一，我們要清楚知道，告解亭中的神父實在是耶穌自己，是耶穌親自在聽我們的罪，赦我們的罪，賞賜我們悔改和奮鬥的恩寵；第二，聖教會有嚴格的規定，即使是最小和似乎無關痛癢的罪，聽告解的神父也不得洩露一字，否則將招致絕罰；第三，你既然知道告解如此重要，那有否祈求耶穌賞賜你勇氣呢？

問 4：跟神父太熟，不好意思，我有時會去別的聖堂做修和，因神父不認識我，少了點尷尬，但因此會不方便，所以很少去。答 4：感謝天主，如果你跟神父「太熟」的話，這正是令告解聖事在人性層面更為有益之處。告解聖事除赦罪外，我們更從神父的勸言中，找到更新自己和修德成聖的方法。如果每次都到不同的神父處辦告解，就沒有人會真正了解你的問題，而給予恰當的勸告。情況就如生病要看醫生一樣，你每次都會選擇不同的醫生求診嗎？

問 5：如果我已經知道未能出席星期六、日的感恩祭，我應該在過後向神父辦告解，還是事前做些甚麼來預先補救？答 5：未犯的罪是不能赦的。所以，如果你因非常特別而且偶然的原因，比如偶然的公幹、探親等（子女考試或比賽並非理由），預見己在某一主日不能參與彌撒，你可以到本堂神父那裡求救。按教會法典授予的權力，本堂神父審斷你的情況後，如認為合適，可給予一次性的寬免，免除你該主日參與彌撒的本分，同時給予你一些祈禱或

你抗拒修和聖事嗎？

善工作替代。如果是突發之事，生重病、發生意外、照顧病人等原因，教友在該主日沒有本分到教堂參與彌撒，但仍須按當時能力祈禱。順帶一提，如果你的工作使你長期不能滿全主日彌撒的本分，你必須認真的考慮那份工作是否合適。關於這事，如有需要，可與神父傾談。

問 6：曾聽神父說過，每參加一次彌撒，便要辦一次修和，可是我覺得自己並沒有甚麼告解內容。究竟我要怎樣做？答 6：彌撒與告解，本無直接關係，故不需在每次望彌撒前辦告解。可是，彌撒作為我們在現世對天主最崇高的敬禮，以完全潔淨的靈魂來參與，是非常恰當的。所以，教友們應培養定期辦告解的習慣。何謂定期呢？聖教會知道各地情況不同，故沒有加以指引，一般來說，基本一個月一次；如果犯有大罪，那就應盡快找神父辦告解。至於在告解時感到沒有甚麼可說，大有可能是因為我們的省察做得不完全，又或者我們忽略了每天的省察。根據經驗，定期辦告解的人，較長年沒有告解的人，說得更多啊。

問 7：聽說若犯了大罪而又未辦告解，則不可以領聖體，這弄得我不太想回聖堂參與彌撒，現在連聖堂也少去了，怎麼辦？答 7：的確，犯有大罪而未辦告解，不能領受聖體聖事，否則是對耶穌的侮辱，這是另一個大罪。如果我們一方面不渴望在天主前保持純潔無罪，一方面又領受聖體聖事，可以說，我們正在吃喝自己的罪過（參格前11:27-29）。領受聖事並非人的權利，而純粹出於天主的恩賜，人又怎能因未盡本分而不適合領受聖事，轉而抱怨呢？坦白承認吧，其實你對天主的愛少得可憐，天主可是為你犧牲性命的主啊！祈禱吧，天主將賞賜你恩寵，使你痛悔一己之大罪。

問8：我已經很久沒有辦修和，忘記了程序和經文，怎麼辦？答 8：不用擔心，仁慈的天主常常在告解亭等待我們，不論多久沒有告解，只要誠心痛悔並坦白告明，天主從沒有不寬恕的。如果怕忘記了如何告解，亦請放心，多數的告解亭都貼有告解聖事的程序，即使沒有，神父也會指引你如何辦告解的。讓神父給所有弟兄姊妹一句勸言：請辦告解！

　　各位兄弟姊妹，希望以上的分享，能讓你感受到修和聖事是一件愛的聖事。在這個慈悲特殊禧年，堂區增加了修和的時間，希望大家都能勤辦修和，藉以領受天主的慈悲！

　　這次我們的訪問對象，也是堂區牧民議會的一

員，他就是議會的外務副會長 Danny 黎錦龍兄弟。

我們先介紹一下他在議會的主要工作：外務副會長

的工作範圍很廣，除了負責聯繫不同堂區，也需要

代表堂區出席教友總會的會議，例如跨區大型活動

的籌備會議。作為議會幹事的一員，他還要協助舉

辦區內的活動，好像過去開啟聖門和新春千歲宴等，

可謂裡裡外外，都要幫忙。

　 說到 Danny 的信仰歷程，原來他生於沒有宗教

信仰的家庭，認識天主是由於他就讀於天主教小學，

而自小養成了祈禱念經和出席教會活動的習慣。到

了中一，他主動參加慕道班，並在十三歲那年領洗。

他坦言當時跟他一起領洗的人並不多，不過當時自

己並沒有想太多，只是一心順應天主的安排而領洗。

不過，Danny 的信仰歷程也非一帆風順。雖然中學

時一直都有出席大大小小的宗教活動，但自從踏足

社會後，便因為工作繁忙而漸漸遠離了天主。直到

他遇上了太太——當時他的太太還未領洗，後來受

到 Danny 的影響才開始慕道。隨著太太和子女先後

領洗，Danny 也重返教會。三年前，他成為堂區主

日學導師，現負責任教堂區中一級的青少年。

　 平日除了要處理牧民議會的工作，為主日學作

準備，Danny 也要兼顧自己日常的工作，有時甚至

要出外工幹。他坦言，要平衡各種工作，絕不簡單。

除了要好好分配時間外，更有賴善會幹事，以及家

人的支持和體諒。縱使工作繁忙，但 Danny 認為可

以為天主服務，所有的辛酸都是值得的。每次為議

會完成一件工作後，他都會感到天主透過工作所帶

給他的那份平安。除此以外，他認為可以利用一己

所長去回饋教會，是非常有意義的事——例如熟習

影音器材的他，在剛剛過去的 12 月，就為聖堂安裝

了新的攝影器材，這使在開聖門當日專誠來朝聖的

教友，可以目睹整個過程。看到自己的付出，能夠

讓其他教友受惠，他感到非常滿足。就是這份滿足，

推動 Danny 繼續服務教會。

　 此外，他也覺得參與這些善工，令自己更接近

天主。例如，他為主日學備課，從搜集資料到準備

內容，Danny 獲得更多有關教會的知識，而自我反

思也使自己的屬靈知識增進不少。

　 Danny 希望未來會有更多教友認識到堂區牧民

議會。他會努力透過議會的活動，鞏固教友的信仰，

讓更多人有機會服務堂區，也希望能使更多的人認

識天主。

On 1 January, Cardinal John Tong was welcomed to Tai Po by many hundreds of the faithful who had gathered to witness the Cardinal celebrating the Rite of Opening the Door of Mercy to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. The Cardinal began the proceedings with the Rite of Introduction outside the church, and said “Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Mother of God and open the Door of Mercy as instructed by Pope Francis. Let us now call upon the mercy of God.” The Cardinal then solemnly walked with his ministers while the combined choirs of the Tai Po church Chinese and English Speaking Communities sang “Misericordes Sieut Pater” in both Chinese and Latin, and the procession ascended the steps leading up to the entrance to the church; there the Cardinal stopped in front of the doors, over which are written the words in Chinese and Latin “The Home of the Church, Gateway to Heaven”. Standing before the Door of Mercy, Cardinal Tong pronounced “This is the Lord’s gate: let us pass through it and obtain mercy and forgiveness;” he then slowly and reverently opened the doors; all bowed and paused in prayer, and Fr. Luigi, the Parish Priest, incensed the Door of Mercy. The Cardinal called on all to pray saying “Grant that your faithful may pass through this gate, and be welcomed into your presence, so that they may experience, O Father, your abundant mercy.” The members of the procession, which included various nationalities representing both the Chinese and English Speaking Communities of the church in Tai Po, then entered the crowded church and were warmly welcomed by the Cardinal, who then proceeded to the altar sprinkling the congregation with holy water as he passed by. Cardinal Tong opened the Eucharistic Celebration with the prayer “May almighty God cleanse us of our sins, and through the celebration of this Eucharist make us worthy to share at the table of his Kingdom.” Nearly two thousand had come to Tai Po to join with the Cardinal, but the church only seats about 250, so many had to stand, while others assembled in the meeting rooms below the church or in the hall and the ground floor of the adjacent Valtorta College where they were able to watch the celebration via closed circuit T.V. At the conclusion of the celebration, those in the church who had already received a blessing quietly left so that those outside were able to pass through the Holy Door, enter the church and receive a blessing from one of the several priests in attendance. The members of the English Speaking Community here in Tai Po feel they have been particularly blessed because the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church was one of only seven, including the Cathedral, where the opening of the Holy Door was being celebrated in Hong Kong, and it was a bi-lingual Chinese and English celebration, so we are extremely thankful to the Cardinal.

It was a truly humbling yet uplifting experience for all those who attended the celebration and all the members of the Chinese and English Speaking Communities of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church wish to express their most sincere gratitude to all those who helped in making it all possible, including The most Rev. Bishop John Cardinal Tong for leading the celebration, Rev. Thomas Law, from the Diocesan Liturgy Commission, who directed the proceedings in his own most inimitable style, our Priests from Tai Po, Rev. Luigi Bonalumi, Rev. James Wan and Rev. Cyril Cheung, and the many priests from neighbouring parishes including Rev. Francesco Conte, Rev. Paul XL Shen, Rev. TW Ng, Rev. Simon CY Li, Rev. Raja Duggimpudi, Rev. Mario EG Carrejo, Rev. Moses TM Ngai and Rev. WK Kwok, and not forgetting the many Sisters who attended, including the Franciscan Missionary, the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Sisters of St. Paul de Charters and the P.I.M.E Sisters and all the visitors from many various parts of Hong Kong.

Youth and Sunday School Pilgrimage On Sunday, 10th January, 2016, the Youth and Sunday School along with parents, teachers and Fr. Paolo Ceruti (50 in all), made a Pilgrimage to St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Tsing Yi. Fr. Joseph Chan, the Parish Priest, welcomed us warmly on our arrival. He encouraged everyone to pray and meditate during our tour around the Church. In his own words, he welcomed us with this inspiring message: “Let this Pilgrimage help you to find yourselves and experience the closeness of the Father. Let this time be a solemn journey with God. Observe indulgence as we travel our Christian journey of life." The holy year’s motto, "MERCIFUL LIKE THE FATHER" gave us the reflection of – “One does not judge or condemn others but instead, forgive others and be a channel of mercy and generosity.” With this in mind, the Pilgrimage started by following the 8 different stations guided by Fr. Joseph Chan himself. I. OUTSIDE THE CHURCH: The statue of our Holy Mother Mary holding the baby Jesus.

II: THE HOLY DOOR: (the only bronze church door found in HK) It has 16 pictures forming 3 different sections. Each picture tells a meaningful and significant message about the life of Jesus and how Christianity first spread in China and HK. III. KNOCKING AND OPENING THE DOOR: The pilgrims knock and enter God's palace through the door. IV. THE BAPTISMAL FOUNTAIN: A structural shape like a cross showing the significance of the cross in our lives.

V. THE PATH AND THE ALTAR: An open way towards the Altar signifying, the way, the truth and the life. This is where the Eucharistic celebration is held.

VI. THE GLASS MURAL: Jesus' hand pointing to the Holy Trinity and its glory.

VII: THE CHAPEL: (located in the basement) Where historical sacred relics of St. Thomas, a precious holy gift (authorized by the Italian Bishop, Enzio d'Antonio from the PIME missionary, honoring the request made by Rev. Fr. Luigi Bonalumi), are kept safely along with the tabernacle (aged 150 years) and the Blessed Sacrament.

VIII. THE ENTRANCE OUTSIDE THE DOOR: On the floor was a symbol of a fish ΙΧΘΥΣ which means I-Jesus X-Christ Θ-God Υ- Son Σ-Savior.

It was a blessed and informative experience for the children. The spiritual knowledge inspired them to be inquisitive and they happily participated in the discussions. It was a great occasion for the children to appreciate the importance of celebrating the Jubilee Year of Mercy and follow the way of Jesus Christ. All the children expressed their gratitude to Fr. Joseph on their visit. It was a day to remember, a day when the children made a significant connection to God through the pilgrimage.

The Shadow and Shade of the Cross Spring has arrived, and Easter blushes the horizon, hinting of blossoming buds, growing green, things glorious, and The Glorious: the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which Our Brother and Lord did not come back to life, but rather, by the power of the Holy Spirit, blasted through the other end of death, taking it by the throat and subduing it to His own glorious purposes until such time as it shall go by the way of its own name. But— and I say this ‘but’ with all reverence— even as it is truly our grand and glorious hope, we are not called to seek resurrection. St. Paul says, “For I judged not myself to know anything among you, but Jesus Christ, and him crucified,” (I Cor. 2:2) and again, “But we preach Christ crucified, ....” (I Cor. 1:23). We must remain at the cross, on the cross, or we will fall prey to seeking our own resurrection. And for those of us given to religiosity this will mean a miserable existence of expending all our energy seeking to be righteous apart from Jesus, ever seeking as a way of avoiding the cross. We are good at holding our breath under water.

“Where is the encouragement in this?” you might also ask. I am speaking to those who are weary of seeking to be resurrected, to those for whom the words ‘put a smile on your face’ have ceased altogether to be a smiling (or laughing) matter, to those who come Sunday after Sunday and are enlivened by the Mass and the fellowship, but who arrive home with a sinking dread to face the week, feeling alone and unprotected not only from painful circumstances, but from one’s self and one’s own thoughts. It may be only a few to whom I am speaking, but it is to those who might say, “It isn’t enough to be forgiven, for I am still stuck with myself.” Words seem so inadequate, but I will dare to say that you are right: it isn’t enough to be forgiven. Jesus understands this. It is for Love that the cherubim with the flaming sword barred the way back into Eden. (Gen. 3:21-24) To partake of the tree of life and secure immortality in our fallen state would be the hell on earth we sometimes feel this life to be in itself. God was not taken by surprise. From ‘the very end’ God has had nothing but our eternal joy at heart. The insidious lie that punishment offsets sin is laid bare. It is righteousness that offsets sin, and it is God’s justice that He will not leave us or ‘abandon us to ourselves’ or to unrighteousness. He is for us! The depth of the pain itself bears testimony to the grandeur of what will be, what must be. Forgiveness is not the passport to heaven; it is the passport to Jesus. And Jesus, “the Lamb having been slain since the foundation of the world” (Rev. 13:8), the Crucified One, is He whom we seek. We must not look too far beyond the cross, even as we glimpse the blush of the Dawn that takes away all other blushes (and may God grant that glimpse to those of us who are tempted to despair). Abide at the cross. We are united with Him in forgiveness that we may be made bold and set free to unite with Him in His death; indeed, to be held by Him in our dying. Because He faced it alone (Matt. 27:46), we need not, regardless of how alone we may feel. Dying is our work; raisin up, His. It is a weariness unto death ‘to live’ otherwise. It is not OK, but He whispers in our ear, “It is OK that it is not OK.” Stay at the cross. He is our reward for going nowhere else.

“My joy of experiencing an Easter”

One of my favorite songs has these lyrics: “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow”. I love

the peace and joy that comes to my heart as I sing the songs about the Savior. I have been immersing myself more in this very song recently, and it made a huge difference in my Easter experience. This year, Easter felt much more touching to me, and that feeling of God’s love filling the day. I prepared this year like I never have before. I started preparing a week ahead of time, humming the hymns as I went.

　　As I have been reflecting on Easter, I’ve been asking myself, what made it more special than before. I’m confident the music was part of it. I have come across people, who lost their loved ones far too young. Once someone posted an image on Facebook that really struck me. It was the Savior hugging a woman with the words “No goodbye will last forever because of Him.” Next to that image she had a picture of her daughter’s grave, under which she had written “Because of Him my little angel will rise again. Happy Easter everyone!” and as I read those words of hope the real joy of the Resurrection became clear. We speak of the Savior’s sacrifice in so many ways, but that simple truth had never been the center of my focus before.

　　When I was 13 years old, my grandma was bedridden. She would often say to us pray to Jesus so that He may take her soon. She would say, “I will be with Him one day”. Once I asked her why she was not afraid to die. Her simple answer was, “because Jesus lives, I too will live”. This was the faith of my grandma.

　　Looking back, I used to be very frightened to think about my own death. Now my grandma’s words make a difference in my life.

　　Thinking of these two women and their understanding of the greatest gift the world has ever known, is part of why this Easter was more special to me. I think I have spent almost every Easter up until today with little understanding of the meaning of Easter. I was a bit in the dark. But somehow my preparation for Easter and the joyous hymns about the Resurrection and God’s love for

us have broadened my mind year by year. Easter is a celebration of joy! Previously, every time I thought of Christ’s sacrifice for me it was sad and painful. I felt terrible guilt knowing that part of His suffering was because of me. And I wished He hadn’t had to endure such excruciating pain. But now I know better - His suffering was a gift. He loved us so much that He gave us a chance to live again, to be with God again. Before His sacrifice we were doomed to live away from God because we couldn’t become worthy to go back. But He bridged the gap and did for us what no other ever could. And He did so willingly. Truly, His was a gift of Love. “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow”.

　　I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus. For His willingness to come and live a pure life so we would know what one looked like. His example changed the world….and it changed me.

　　The year of mercy has started. I end with this quotation from Pope Francis, "Let us set aside all fear and dread, for these do not befit men and women who are loved. Instead, let us experience the joy of encountering that grace which transforms all things."
