那時凱撒奧古斯都出了一道上諭，叫天下的人都要登記：這是在季黎諾作敘利亞總督時，初次行的登記。於是，眾人各去本城登記。若瑟因為是達味家族的人，也從加里肋亞納匝肋城，上猶大名叫白冷的達味城去，好同自己已懷孕的聘妻瑪利亞去登記。他們在那裡的時候，她分娩的日期滿了，便生了她的頭胎男兒，用襁褓裡起，放在馬槽裡，因為在客棧中為他們沒有地方。在那地區有些牧人露宿，守夜看守羊群。有上主的一個天使站在他們身邊，上主的光耀環照著他們，他們便非常害怕。天使向他們說：「不要害怕！看！我給你們報告一個為全民族的大喜訊：今天在達味城中，為你們誕生了一位救世者，他是主默西亞。這是給你們的記號：你們將要看見一個嬰兒，裹著襁褓，躺在馬槽裡。」忽有一大隊天軍，同那天使一起讚頌天主說：「天主受享光榮於高天，主愛的人在世享平安！」

「厄瑪奴耳」──天主與我們同在

你有聽過「沙灘上的腳印」這則故事嗎？有一個晚上，一個人作了一個夢，他夢見他和天主在沙灘上散步。

天空中閃過他人生的每一幕場景。每一個場景，他都看到沙灘上有兩對腳印：一對是他自己的，一對是天主的。當人生的最後一幕在他的面前閃過時，他注意到，在他人生的旅程中，好幾次沙灘上只有一對腳印。他亦注意到，這總是發生在他生命處於最低潮，最悲傷痛苦的時候。這件事讓他十分困擾，於是他問天主：「主啊，祢說一旦我決定追隨祢，祢將永遠與我同行。但我注意到在我人生中最困難的時候，沙灘上只有一對腳印。我不明白為甚麼在我最需要祢的時候，祢卻離我而去。」天主回答說：「我的兒子，我親愛的孩子，我愛你，絕對不會離開你。在你人生遭受試煉與苦難的時候，也就是你看到只有一對腳印的那些時候，其實正是我抱著你走的時候。」

每次聽到這則故事，都有所感動，但總覺得這不過是故事而已。直到今年一月四日，慕道團和主日學合辦培育日，邀請了張文達兄弟來分享「上主與我同行，我與弱小者同行」時，我才看到真人版的「沙灘上的腳印」。

張文達原是一名死囚，後改判為終身監禁的囚犯，再成為走出監獄的釋囚。度過廿六年鐵窗生涯，出獄兩年多的他，現在是「善牧助更生協會」 的總幹事。在他的分享中提到兩次自殺的經驗。第一次是他知道要判終身監禁，老死不能離開監獄，於是他計劃割脈，怎料天主卻讓他聽到一個收音機的廣播：「你不可只想自己，要想想關心

你的人。」他環顧自己周圍確有不少關心他的人， 於是他放棄了輕生的念頭。

第二次是他知悉媽媽的死訊的時候。張文達全心寄望有朝一日可以出監盡供養孝愛媽媽的責任，可是媽媽已不在了，他的人生再沒有什麼希望了，故當他知道媽媽已死，他表現得十分冷靜，甚至沒有落下一滴眼淚，囚友紛紛擁抱和安慰他說：「不要難過。」有些囚友竟因此而哭起來，可是他仍毫無反應，並向囚友說：「你們放心，我沒事的。」他返回監房後開始埋怨天主，向天主發怒，質問天主：「為何連我唯一的希望都要奪去？我實在太辛苦了，我沒有能力走下去了，我真的沒有能力走下去了！」此刻，他感覺在他前面出現一條路，有一個人在他身旁拖著他的手，那人不斷催促他快快走過這條路，但他總不願走， 於是那人便用力拉他、扯他，一方面他想盡辦法要逃離那人，另一方面他要盡全力掙脫那人的拉扯，於是二人角力起來，在他極度的掙扎中， 那人對他說：「看，你已走過來了。」他回頭一看，他確實走過去了，他看到自己的腳全都爛了，但那人的腳比他爛得更嚴重和厲害。就在此時，他放聲大哭起來，哭聲震撼整個監獄，他深深地經驗到上主對他的不離不棄，如此的深愛著他。

我 深 受 感 動， 真 的「 我 痛， 主 比 我 更 痛 」， 「我傷，主比我更傷」，「我苦，主比我更苦」。「沙灘上的腳印」再不是故事一則，而是如此有血有肉地活現在我眼前。感謝主讓我經驗到 「厄瑪奴耳」，讓我看到「上主與我們同在」。

求祢堅固我們的信仰，並求祢賜給亡者永恆的生命。

堂區消息

堂區牧民議會週年大會將於 2019 年 1 月 13 日上午 9 時卅分的主日彌撒中舉行牧民議會第十二屆幹事派遣禮；下午 2 時正在聖堂二樓會議室舉行評議會；下午 3 時正舉行週年大會，當日將為新舊任幹事進行交接儀式。

聖經生活靈修

2018 年 9 月 16 日超強颱風山竹吹襲本港，帶來惡劣天氣，香港到處滿目瘡痍，街道都是被強風吹倒的樹木，不但阻礙通道，對市民亦構成一定的危險；社交平台上不斷更新災後消息，有一些大埔區居民自發組成義工隊，不分晝夜為社區清理塌樹、垃圾，他們有老有幼，有男有女，有中國人也有外國人，清理工作雖然非常辛苦，但他們仍滿臉笑容，他們樂意為這個「家」服務；另外亦有不少駕駛者在交通癱瘓時，義務接載其他有需要人士，其中一名校巴司機也義載街坊，讓苦苦等候公共交通工具上班的街坊感動不已。

颱風雖然破壞力驚人，但這個「山竹」卻再一次亮起香港人的心，喚醒那份獅子山下同心協力的精神。回想香港回歸前，家與家的關係十分密切，左鄰右舍守望相助，常言道「遠親不如近鄰」，在那個時代生活過的應該有所感觸。教會是社會

的縮影，我們在主內互相稱呼為兄弟姊妹，我們藉著主的愛，關係不是應該更加密切嗎？我們常常聽到福音中慈善的撒瑪黎雅人的故事，耶穌問：「你以為這三個人中，誰是那遭遇強盜者的近人呢？」那人答說：「是憐憫他的那人。」耶穌遂給他說：「你去，也照樣做吧！」（路 10: 36-37）

「你應當全心、全靈、全力、全意愛上主，你的天主；並愛近人如你自己。」（路 10: 27）

最後藉此感謝在颱風山竹後回來聖堂協助清理塌樹、垃圾的各位無名英雄，包括聖堂各工作人員和教友們，感謝你們對這個「家」的愛與付出。

6 「他要以聖神和火洗你們。」( 路 3:16)

教友分享

今期堂區通訊，我為大家介紹現任和曾在大埔聖母無

玷之心堂服務的修女。大家都會想到現任牧職修女彭

美瑩修女 (Sr. C. Pamei)，曾任職於本堂的李德清修女

(Sr. Anitha Eddula)、鄧愛蓮修女 (Sr. Constantine

Thangavelu)、趙蘊美修女 (Sr. Giovanna Minardi)、

馬麗莉修女 (Sr. Marinei Pessanha Alves)、白德蘭

修 女 (Sr. Teresa Capobianco) 和 梅 樂 真 修 女 (Sr.

Luigia Mindassi) 都是來自 聖母無原罪傳教女修 會

(Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate)，又稱宗座

外方傳教女修會 (P.I.M.E. Sisters) 的修女。在香港的

女修會團體中，有兩個聖母無原罪傳教女修會，除了

英文名稱不同，所辦的學校亦有不同：開辦德望及德

愛學校，另一間則開辦保祿六世書院。

女 修 會 的 成 立， 源 於 宗 座 外 方 傳 教 會 (P.I.M.E.

Fathers) 會士的熱心傳教事業，引發了一群女士的

傳 教 熱 火。 孟 保 祿 神 父 (Blessed Paolo Manna)、

董妮絲修女 (Sr Giuseppina Dones) 和羅德芬女士

(Giuseppina Rodolfi)，都是創會先導者。當時，獲

得宗座外方傳教會 (PIME) 的新任總會長巴科尼主教

( Msgr. Lorenzo Balconi) 的協調及支持下，終於在

1936 年 12 月 8 日的聖母無原罪瞻禮日，在意大利的

米蘭成立了聖母無原罪傳教女修會（宗座外方傳教女

修會）。

修女們承傳董妮絲修女和羅德芬女士的熱誠傳教精

神，以信德、愛德、犧牲和堅忍的精神，常懷着希望

去活出教會救世的使命，專注未認識天主的教外人士

宣揚耶穌基督的救世精神。她們以奉獻的生活作為見

證，去傳揚天國的福音。她們更藉着不同的工作，包

括教育事業，牧民善工及社區工作，使教會完全臨在

現世中，使大家都能分享基督的奧蹟。傳教士分佈在

不同的地方服務，如：意大利、喀麥隆、幾內亞比索塔、

巴西、阿爾及利亞、孟加拉、印度、巴布亞新機內亞、

英國和香港等國家或地區。

修女們於 1968 年到港，主要擔任教育和牧民工作，

曾先後服務的地區，包括：上葵涌（梨木樹、石梨、

石蔭）、葵芳、祖堯、元朗、錦田、粉嶺、大埔、沙田、

樂富、青衣及天水圍等。其在香港會區座院是設在粉

嶺和合石和興村。

適逢今年是女修會來港服務的五十週年紀念，將於

2018 年 12 月 2 日舉行感恩及慶祝活動，讓我們誠心

祈禱，支持及感謝修女們在香港、在世界每一個角落

努力發揚福傳工作。

MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE

IMMACULATE (P.I.M.E. SISTERS)

In this issue of the <Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Newsletter>, I would like to give a brief account on women religious currently serving, or have been served before, in our Tai Po Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. When talking about them, all of us may immediately think of the current pastoral sister, Sr. C. Pamei and other past serving sisters: Sr. Constantine Thangavelu, Sr. Giovanna Minardi), Sr. Marinei Pessanha Alves, Sr. Teresa Capobianco and Sr. Luigia Mindassi. They all are confreres of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate, or vulgarly known as P.I.M.E. Sisters. Among all women religious institutes in Hong Kong, there are two institutes having exactly the same name in Chinese: 聖母無原罪傳教女修會 ; however, their names in English are different: Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate (PIME Sisters) and Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (MIC) (Les Soeurs Missionarires de l’Immaculee Conception). Both congregations operate their own schools individually: MIC operates the Good Hope School and Tak Oi Secondary School, whereas PIME Sisters run the Pope Paul VI College.

The establishment of this women religious institute was greatly influenced by the living missionary passion of P.I.M.E. Fathers, whose zeal kindled the evangelization fire in the hearts of a group of female laities. Blessed Fr. Paolo Manna, Sr Giuseppina Dones and Ms. Giuseppina Rodolfi are the founding pioneers. At that time, the trio got full support and coordination of the newly erected Superior General of PIME, Msgr. Lorenzo Balconi to start a new religious institute. Under his patronage, the congregation was eventually established in Milano on 8th December, 1936, i.e. the Feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. They named it the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate (P.I.M.E. Sisters).

Faithful to the evangelization passion of Sr. Giuseppina Dones and Ms. Giuseppina Rodolfi, PIME sisters focus their efforts in propagating the salvation spirit of Jesus Christ to those who have never heard of Catholicism with faith, love, sacrifice and never-failing spirit, and they always bear hopes in fulfilling the salvation mission of the Church. They bear witnesses by adopting an oblation way of living in order to proclaim the good news of the Heavenly Kingdom. Through different kinds of work, such as educational, pastoral and social work, they cause the presence of the Church fully manifest in our today’s world, and also enable people to share the mystery of Christ. Their missionaries provide services in different countries and regions of the world, such as: Italy, Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau, Brazil, Algeria, Bangladesh, India, Papua New Guinea, England and Hong Kong etc.

Their sisters came to Hong Kong in 1968, mainly engaging in educational and pastoral work. The areas they had been serving include: Sheung Kwai Chung (Lei Muk Shue, Shek Lei, Shek Yam), Kwai Fong, Cho Yiu, Yuen Long, Kam Tin, Fan Ling, Tai Po, Sha Tin, Lok Fu, Tsing Yi and Tin Shui Wai etc. Their Delegation House in Hong Kong is now located at Wo Hing Village, Wo Hop Shek, Fanling.

It so happened that this year is the Golden Jubilee of their services in Hong Kong. They will celebrate the event on 2nd December, 2018 with thanksgiving and celebratory activities. Let us pray for them fervently, support them, and thank them for their devotions and contributions in carrying out evangelization work in Hong Kong and at every corner of the world.

天主教聖母聖心小學於 10 月 16 日舉行了「聖堂古蹟尋」活動，由宗教科老師帶領全校四年級生到聖母無玷之心堂參觀，是次參觀目的為讓同學們接觸與學校有著密切關係的堂區，了解其歷史，並透過認識堂區及學校的主保──聖母無玷聖心，從而學習聖母的德行。

抵達聖母無玷之心堂後，同學們先學習使用聖堂的跪

櫈開始祈禱，再聆聽導賞員講解大埔堂區的傳教歷史，

接著介紹祭台上各種禮儀用的設備及其意義，並說明聖

堂內能夠幫助我們祈禱默想的不同擺設，如聖像、聖

相等等，從祭台兩旁的聖母聖心及耶穌聖心的聖像中，

了解到堂區及學校主保的事蹟與由來。其後在聆聽導

賞員講解後，為配合自主學習及多元智能學習，我們

更於聖堂不同的位置貼上 QR 圖碼，讓他們分組尋找並

以 iPad 掃掃 QR 圖碼，以獲得在該地點相關的資訊並

回答問題，例如只要掃描貼在二樓會議室的 QR 碼，便

可以看到多年前聖母聖心小學，在會議室內舉行畢業

茶會的照片。同學們可以透過此電子學習活動了解堂

區歷史，得知原來聖堂以前就是我們學校的校舍，很

久以前是在聖堂後部圍上木板作課室，而二樓的會議

室則作為學校禮堂進行不同活動。他們明白到學校與

堂區的關係，也加深了他們對堂區的歸屬感。

同學們在回校後寫作的參觀聖堂感想中，均表示在是

次活動中獲益良多，除了懂得欣賞聖堂內的建築和擺

設，亦了解到堂區與學校之間的密切聯繫，更加願意

效法聖母的芳表，聽命服從、謙遜並多祈禱，做個愛

主愛人的好孩子。

同學只要答對導賞員曹太的問題，便可獲得解結聖母的祈禱卡

本年度我校宗教主題為「義德」，鼓勵同學力盡己責，

尊重他人的權利，建立和諧的人際關係。

九月初布尊和神父為我校師生主持開學禮儀，勉勵我

們效法主基督，彼此相愛，關懷身邊有需要的人。祈

禱後，學生代表為老師送上「主內常樂」書籤及笑臉

匙扣，神父灑聖水祝福修葺後的禮堂。

天主教同學會幹事於十月三日放學後在聖堂舉行交職

彌撒，邀請了張樂天神父主禮。張神父勉勵幹事們在

崗位上，要全心全意愛天主，讓人藉他們身上認識主

基督。隨後幹事們為教友同學舉辦定期聚會，在遊戲

中建立團體感。

校長與公教老師與中三級全體同學於十月五日前往灣

仔演藝學院，觀賞由靈火劇團與演藝青年粵劇團合辦

的粵語音樂劇「耶穌傳」，耶穌的一生在劇團成員精

彩的演繹下，打動師生的心靈；是次參與實有幸麥秋

老師對我校同學的關愛，願同學能效法基督捨己愛人

的精神。

十月廿一日為傳教主日，我校師生參與了新界東北鐸

區單車福傳活動，在神父們的啟動祈禱後，眾人踏著

單車開始旅程。部份師生雖是非教友，但在路途上他

們也能與人彼此擔待，享受踩單車的樂趣，也是一份

祝福和見證。踏車路途上有不少難忘片段：其中一位

同學與對頭單車相撞了，同學只是擦傷少許，而他的

單車的車輪卻不能轉動，失望的以為要推車半小時往

終點站，後來遇上堂區的大哥哥停車協助，並與他交

換單車，使同學能順利完成旅程。聖人德蘭修女說：「愛

是在對方需要上，看見自己的責任。」願大哥哥的無

私付出得到天主百倍賞報。

「那信了由上主傳於她的話必要完成的，是有福的。」( 路 1:45)

「參加婚禮！」善會信仰小品

婚配聖事是男女二人，在基督的愛內，自由地將自己交給對方，願意共同勉力度一個更圓滿的基督徒生活；並在二人的相愛中，育養後代，負起教養子女的職責。在婚配聖事中，結婚男女兩人是整個聖事的關鍵，因為這個盟約是由男女共同締結的，而且這聖事婚約的有效性，延至男女當中一人離世始自動解除。婚姻是一件聖事。在聖事中基督與人相遇，聖化他們的婚約。自此之後，夫婦二人成為一體，在信仰生活的成長中，再不是單人匹馬，而是雙宿雙棲的共同進退，一起朝著基督徒的理想前進。

感謝天主！我們很榮幸今年能參與兩對團員的婚禮，其中一對更是婚配聖事。我們

在婚禮中為新人祈禱、唱歌，一起見證天主的愛，高興而親切，好像是自己「嫁女」一樣。其中一位團員更特別為新人重編了「願主祝福你」一曲，既特別也有心思：「祝福你、保佑你、無論距離。祝福你、保佑你、不分遠近……。」在此，祝福兩對新人百年好合，永結同心，無論在何處，幸福歡樂永遠伴隨著你們！

最後，藉著這個機會邀請有興趣歌唱的弟兄姊妹加入我們歌詠團，一起在彌撒和服務中見證「天主是愛」。主佑！

盈聚歌詠團供稿

在服務中修德聖澤歌詠團以主保聖德蘭修女為芳表，以讚美上主之心用歌詠來服務大埔堂區，希望和參與感恩祭者同心詠唱時在聖神帶領下更接近天主。其實我們的團員都不算是專業歌者，但每位都是因聖神的帶領而奉獻於這個團體，以同一心神去讚美上主的。如若有一天你也感到聖神的召叫，來大埔堂區參與服務時，你真是有福了！

耶穌給我們兩條誡命：「『你應全心，全靈，全意，愛上主你的天主。』這是最大也是第一條誡命。第二條與此相似：『你應當愛近人，如你自己。』全部法律和先知，都繫於這兩條誡命。」（瑪竇22:37b-40）

有時候，在團體內服務或社會上工作，我們都很容易受到考驗或批評。每人都各有知識，各有所長，很多時都未能看到自己的短處。但若我們都能全心依靠天主，每當受到考驗時，先停一停，想一想，把自己的思念放下，然後把一切交給天主，先謝恩，後祈禱，靜默地等待，讓聖神來指

引，最後的結果往往截然不同。其實天主的計劃何等完美，祂允許的事如發生在你身上，祂必有計劃。要活在當下，我們要緊記聖神九果：仁愛、喜樂、平安、忍耐、良善、溫和、忠信、柔和、節制（迦5:22），如我們所言所行並沒有這些果效，這便不是來自聖神而是出於人的思念，那我們便很容易用了自己的尺度去批判別人，而把謙遜和服從的聖神果子忘記了。求主讓聖神引領大家的心，讓我們能領悟如何在服務中修德，活出基督，願一切光榮歸於主。

他用祭臺上的蠟油，為有肢體殘疾的病人按摩、禱告，患者

因此不藥而治。如今教堂內擺放著治癒患者留

下來的拐杖。

醫治人的是上主，你們要向天主禱告。

這位安德烈修士活了 91 年，直 到 1937 年 1 月 6 日 去 世，他去世那天，加拿大舉國哀悼教宗本篤十六世於 2010 年 10月 17 日冊封他為聖品。

從教區會議到青年年

教 區 終 於 將 牧 民 的 焦 點 放 回 青 年 身 上 了。 但 誰 是

青 年？ 青 年 是 怎 樣 的？ 如 果 搞 不 清 楚， 這 一 兩 年

大家忙碌過後，那張照片仍然是朦朧失焦的。香港

教區開始引用「青年牧民」一詞，也不過是這廿多年

的 事。 徐 誠 斌 主 教 在 1969 至 1971 年 間 所 召 開

的教區會議中，青少年牧民工作並未獨立成題，相信

有關情況應在宗教教育、普通教育、教友生活及傳播

福 音 小 組 中 討 論。 跟 據《 公 教 報 》 當 年 的 報 導，

各小組的與會者平均年齡在 25 至 35 歲之間。

三十年後的 1999 年，由胡振中樞機召開的第二次

教 區 會 議， 才 增 設 了 青 少 年 牧 民 工 作 小 組。 當 年

會議各小組共有 177 項建議，其中近 30 項與青少年

牧民有關，當中有四項在需要優先處理的首 40 項目

之中，而「在堂區設立全職青少年牧民工作者的職務，

負責推動和策劃青少年牧民工作……組成『青少年

牧民工作小組』」與「每所學校應善用資源，聘請

專業人士負責校內的牧民工作，例如：神職人員、

修士、修女或牧民助理等」這兩項，更屬於首 10 項

最優先處理的項目。

由 此 可 見， 從 傳 教 區 發 展 至 回 歸 前， 教 區 的 青 年

牧民工作一直以學校為基地，而堂區的青年牧民工作

則因為當年教會仍然很年輕而沒有獨立出來。但隨著

社會發展、教會老化、聖召不足、堂區斷層，我們

才開始注意到需要好好規劃青年牧民工作。雖然自

上次教區會議至今近二十年來，差不多所有學校都已

增設了全職或半職的牧民助理崗位，可是卻沒有多少

堂區設有全職青少年牧民工作者的職位。在這樣的

情況下，青年信仰團體的發展就十分依賴堂區神父對

青年牧民工作的理解和處理了。

筆 者 希 望 教 區 和 教 友 所 關 注 的， 不 只 是 青 年 是 否

「返聖堂」，而是能深入認識和檢視青年的處境，

就像耶穌進入人類的歷史，了解人民所面對的處境，

並示範如何突破困局一樣。青年牧民工作中常引用

「富貴少年」的聖經章節，其中說到︰「耶穌定睛

看他，就喜愛他。」（谷 10:21）讓我們都跟耶穌

學習，仔細察看身邊的青少年，並撫心自問︰

我們能理解現時教育制度給青少年的壓力嗎？

我們明瞭青年對社會公義的關注和對民主社會的渴望

嗎？

我們重視要留給青少年的環境會變成怎樣嗎？

我們能認同青年對成功和人生目標的理解跟我們有不

同嗎？

我們能陪同青年一同探索生命的意義，一同在知識的

汪洋中尋找真理嗎 ?

「堂區沒有青年」只是現象的表徵，現象的背後卻

具有眾多原因。筆者無意在此討論社會問題，但希望

點出這些原因都阻礙了青年在生命中遇上耶穌，又或

是遇上耶穌後卻轉身而走。踏進青年年的第二年，

讓我們都能先聆聽青年和明白青年的處境，並與青年

分享信仰和生活，一同重新發現耶穌在我們生命中

的意義，並展開以耶穌為中心的生活。

我的家 — 潘殿高專訪

每天早上的平日彌撒，常常見到他的身影；每星期

總有幾個早上，看見他帶領其他教友打太極；這幾年

臨近農曆新年，總有他跟其他教友在忙著為教友寫

揮春。這位笑容可掬的老教友，就是人稱「潘生」

的潘殿高了。

潘生是宜興人，在內地出生。為了謀生，少年時就到

了 上 海 學 習 製 作 球 鞋 的 手 藝。1949 年 將 近 解 放

之時，因友人介紹，只有十五歲的他就毅然隻身在

上海黃埔港登上最後一班船，投奔香港。他最初在

長沙灣的紗廠工作，認識了同是工友的太太。當時

潘 太 已 是 教 友， 就 帶 他 到 長 沙 灣 聖 母 諸 寵 中 保 堂

（1970 年取消，原址在今天主教墳場入口）學習

道理。當時是由馬迪理、陳維統兩位神父和一位姓

陳的修女親自教授的，但潘生在初時總覺得聽不下去，

常常「逃學」到附近的荔園去玩。潘太作為女朋友

很是緊張，不但「跟蹤」去玩的潘生，又會問潘生

神父在慕道班上教了什麼。潘生受到感動，也慢慢

覺品嚐到道理當中的味道，就漸漸接受了信仰，並

且領了洗。「那時候重質不重量，人人都要先熟讀

《要理問答》，對信仰有清楚的認識，才能領洗的。」

潘生說道。

後來聖堂拆了，潘生就和其他教友一起歸屬聖老楞

佐堂，並當了堂區教友代表，常跟神父去探訪教友。

由 這 時 候 開 始， 信 仰 對 他 越 見 重 要。 潘 生 曾 住 過

工廠宿舍，婚後住在木屋區，後來得以入住李鄭屋邨。

七十年代，潘生轉到觀塘的紗廠做管理主任，而且

也搬到愛民邨去了。不過一場火災，工廠被逼解散，

令潘生失業一年多。八十年代，隨著政府推出居屋，

潘生也申請成功了，他回憶道：「當時我們可以選擇

將軍澳或大埔的。不過那時將軍澳還沒有聖堂，我跟

太太來到大埔一看，發現有一座聖堂，就立刻選擇

大埔了。」試問有多少人會在搬家時考慮附近有沒有

聖堂的呢？

一住就三十多年了，潘生一直服務大埔堂區——初期

跟李淑惠修女去探訪年長教友，又曾協助溫以政神父

在星期日彌撒後舉行主日茶座，準備三文治等輕食，

藉以凝聚教友。潘生還在聖堂的裝修工程上出了不少

力，例如設計了聖堂二樓的獻儀箱；參與移除聖母山

左邊的竹林來種植能提供聖枝的蘇鐵樹；聖母山左邊

的圍牆、聖堂屋頂的十字架的圍燈、二樓的儲物櫃

和間隔用的吊板，都是他協助找人來造的；就連祭台

上那個用彈殼造成的「和平之鐘」，也是他和灌志誠

先生等幾位教友隨杜逸文神父用小車由大浪聖堂運到

渡頭坐船到馬料水再坐火車搬回來的。他甚至曾到

偏遠的赤徑、深涌、大浪、蛋家灣等地替小聖堂和

教友維修家居。每年聖誕節的馬槽，他也有份設計

與搭建。九十年代初，潘生轉而從事旅遊業。因為

能說國語，主要作內地團領隊，足跡遍佈北京、上海、

華東等地。在二千年初，他協助策劃堂區的華東之旅，

讓教友在比較受約束的內地，有機會在佘山聖堂舉行

感 恩 祭 並 拍 照 留 念。 他 也 曾 協 助 策 劃 過 兩 次 堂 區

大 旅 行： 一 次 是 陳 永 超 神 父 時 由 基 基 團 主 辦， 與

基 基 團 團 長 游 淑 馨 合 作 的 240 人 吉 澳、 鴨 州、

東平州海上遊；另一次則是歐陽輝神父時由聖約瑟會

和基基團合辦，跟吳建略先生合作的深圳福田基督

君王堂的 200 人朝聖團。

潘生有兩子四女，現正享受四代同堂之樂。除每天

參與彌撒外，他還是送聖體員、堂聖若瑟會成員。

潘生認為信仰基礎和福傳意識都非常重要。他慶幸以

往嚴格的要理教授和考核，為他打好信仰基礎；探訪

教友、參與善會、組織活動等服務，也強化了自己的

信 仰。 潘 生 覺 得 教 友 在 建 立 團 體 基 礎 之 後， 更 該

「走出去」福傳，而紮實的信仰基礎正是福傳的核心。

潘生曾經歷人生的高低起跌，但他把堂區視如自己

的家，犧牲時間，服務堂區，關心他人。「孩子們，

我們愛，不可只用言語，也不可只用口舌，而要用

行動和事實。」（若一 3:18）潘生正是我們的榜樣。

CHOIR MINISTRY

PERSONAL SHARING BY A CHOIR MEMBER

English Speaking Community

The Choir Ministry plays an important role during the Holy Mass in our Church. We have a variety of responsibilities. Our primary role is to support the congregation and enhance the singing during the service. Choir members represent the laity and need to respond to the liturgical dialogue. We are called to be knowledgeable, not only for the hymns and responses, but, also about the correct order of the Holy Eucharist; singing to enliven  the Holy Mass through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Here in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, the Choir serves two masses every Sunday. We lead the congregation singing new songs. We are not trained musicians, but, we take advantage of opportunities to improve our singing, by joining seminars and inviting people who can teach us how to read music. We are blessed to have our very own professional musician, Amuer Calderon, who can correct us and John Tan from the Chinese Speaking Community, who also helps us.

We are often invited to sing at weddings, and during the Christmas Season, and we sometimes get invited to sing carols at charitable events.

Participating in the Choir activities is not an easy task. Being a choir member, I need to be flexible with a very strong sense of commitment. As a Choir member, it is quite hectic, because we have to practice frequently, in order to deliver the songs well during the Holy Mass. 

To sum it up, joining the ministry is very interesting and challenging. In the group I can enhance my talent in singing, and at the same time, it promotes my spiritual life, through the ideas and preferences of the other members. They are just like a family to me.

For new members, they need to undergo three months probation to observe the responsibilities of being a choir member before they can fully serve during the Holy Eucharist.

With a total of twenty four members plus two observers and one youth, we are very enthusiastic about serving the congregation. We are happy to accept anyone who is interested and has a passion in music, to join us in this commitment; to worship Him through music and to raise up the hearts and minds of the congregation.

I’ve been graced by God to serve IHMP as a musician for nearly 14 years.  Undeniably, I am ageing, and sooner or later someone needs to succeed me. I was confident of the many expert male musicians who took turns in serving the Saturday anticipated Holy Mass.  However, one went home for good, the rest seldom come because of urgent work priorities.Therefore, we launched the music forum in 2014, and we were able to train one guitarist -- Alex Obcena.  In 2017, we launched music lessons for limited piano and guitar students and trained our first lady guitarist, Aron Gaudin, and our lone piano student, Joan Benitiz, can now play simple tunes.Furthermore, despite having 2 official back-up guitarists, we still feel the need to push their skills to the next level.  Then, the good Lord intervened.  A chain of events started from Almusalita, when Father Luciano gave a talk last February.  I posted some demo songs on you tube for our choir’s reference, and the assistant of  Father Luciano from St. Alfred’s community discovered my uploads and was interested in introducing me to their Guitarist Group leader Miss Eimee Velarde.  

I saw Eimee’s video posts and was amazed at how many guitarists she trained to enable them to perform on stage and other outreach activities.  Last July, I was formally invited to be the guest performer in their 2nd Guitar Thanksgiving ceremony.  The event was so spirit filled and full of dynamics.  It amazed me and the Saturday Group members who were also there.

This made me commit to starting the same Guitar Lesson scheme in Taipo church.  This time, it should cover a wide spectrum of participants (including outsiders).  With the support of the entire Saturday Group, and with Father Sylvere’s agreement, the opening blessing by Father Francis, took place and we successfully launched the Scheme on 11 August – with more than 30 enrollees including Father Francis, Sister Carmela and many others.

The early sessions were challenging as 80% were purely beginners.  However, with the persistence of our sub-group team leaders, spearheaded by Teacher Janine Tinio, around 70% can now play the basics and they play guitar during the holy rosary, mini-monthly recitals, and supporting the choir during Holy Mass.

We look forward to completing the sessions in December, with the entire class performing a recital at the Valtorta Hall, during the Christmas Party celebration.

Intangibly, these guitar lessons have made our small group swell, and currently, we are nearing 60 in membership.

God is good, all the time!

English Speaking CommunityANNUAL PILGRIMAGEMonday, October 1 dawned bright and sunny, an auspicious beginning for about 240 of our parishioners who assembled in the IHMP church parking lot to venture forth on the annual pilgrimage.

“I didn’t know you were on bus 4, too”“I’m not, this is bus 2!”“It is!? Where is bus 4?”“It’s the 3rd one back, just in front of bus 1!”

With a little confusion amongst the caravan of buses, but with much clarity of purpose, we set off on our journey: first to Mother of Good Counsel Parish church in Kowloon City, and then later to St. Francis of Assisi Parish church in Shamshuipo.

One might just as well have called it a re-union with past Fathers. At Mother of Good Counsel church, we were hosted by our beloved Fr. Paolo and Fr. Kantha Rao, well-remembered and missed from their time of service amongst us at IHMP. In front of the backdrop of the beautiful mosaic of the Last Supper, forming an arch over and around Our Lady with Child, we celebrated together the Holy Rosary and the Holy Eucharist.

After a festive lunch and some brief skirmishes on the athletic court that somehow bore the resemblance of volleyball, we scurried to find our buses to make our way to another ‘reunion’.

At Mother of Good Counsel church, we were hosted by our beloved Fr. Paul, who also served amongst us in the past.

Under the arched buttresses shaped to symbolize the tongues of fire that alighted on the faithful gathered in the upper room at Pentecost, our own Father Francis led us in the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Afterwards, as though risen from the dead, Father Paul showed us that he had lost none of his robust exuberance as he led us in a festive ‘workout of choral calisthenics’.

Finally, weary in body but refreshed in the Spirit, we bordered our 4 buses and sang our way back to our own IHMP home. It is believed that not all quite managed to disembark from the same buses as those on which they first set out. But no matter: not a soul was lost!

A marvelous day of communal fellowship and worship in our Lord, and our heartfelt thanks to the Social Concern Ministry Team who served so well and graciously to make it possible.

Annual Pilgrimage at Mother of Good Counsel Church

PERSONAL SHARING FROM A PARISHIONERA pilgrimage makes us happy, because of our belief and faith in God. It is a Spiritual journey, and I had a happy experience on this pilgrimage with many people and priests. 

So many good things happened on our journey. While in the bus, we prayed and sang for our God. 

The bus arrived at the Mother of Good Counsel Church, where we celebrated the Holy Mass. After the mass, we ate lunch. I was so very happy eating with my friends; I felt that I had a family there, even at this time, when I'm far away from my loved ones, but l felt so happy and enjoyed my time with everyone. 

After lunch, we went by bus to St. Francis of Assisi Church, where we prayed and sang to our God. This pilgrimage took me on a spiritual journey. An experience... that I enjoyed and made me happy.... I'm thankful to God for all the blessings He always gives me.

“EMMANUEL” – GOD BE WITH US

Have you ever heard the story “Footprints in the Sand”?... . .

“One night I dreamed a dream.As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand.I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times,there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. “Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.”

I was touched every time I hear this story, but I do not think it is for real until after I heard the sharing of Mr. Cheung Man-tat on January 4. It was a Formation Day jointly organized by the Catechists Class and the Sunday School. Mr. Cheung's sharing was titled “The Lord walks with me, and I walk with the underprivileged”. It was then that I truly appreciated a real life scenario of the “Footprints in the Sand”. Mr. Cheung Man-tat was a prisoner originally sentenced to death. Later, his penalty was reduced to life imprisonment; then, after serving for 26 years in custody, he was eventually set free. He has been released for more than two years and is now the Executive Director of the “Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Association”. In his sharing, he mentioned that he had attempted to commit suicide twice. The first time was when the verdict of life imprisonment was passed onto him. He knew that he would remain in penitentiary for life and would die therein, so he planned to cut his wrist. It so happened that God spoke to him through a radio programme: “You could not just think of yourself, but should also consider those who care for you.” He looked around and found that indeed there were many people who care for him. So he gave up the intention of committing suicide.

The second occasion was when he learned about the death of his mother. Cheung Man-tat whole-heartedly wished that one day he would be released and could take care of his mother to fulfill the duties as a filial son. With the death of his mother, he had lost all hopes in life. He remained unusually calm when he heard the news of his mother’s death, and did not even shed a tear. His fellow inmates embraced and comforted him saying: “Don’t be sorrowful”. Some fellow internees even started to weep, but, he remained unmoved, and told them: “Don’t worry, I am OK.” When he returned to his cell, he started to lodge a complaint against God. He got angry and questioned God: “Why you took away my only hope in life? I am too weary and could not go on living any more. I really do not have any desire to go on further!” At that moment, he felt that there was a road appearing before him; someone was at his side, holding his hands, and dragging him to get to the end of the road. But he strongly resisted. Therefore, that man used all his strength to drag him forward. He attempted to run away from that man and tried to free himself from the towing and dragging. They started to wrestle with each other. While he was exerting his strongest and ultimate struggle, the man said to him: “Look, you have already reached the end of the road.” When he looked back, he realized that he had indeed finished the journey. He noticed that his feet were totally lacerated, but the feet of that man were even more badly and seriously hurt. He burst into tears and cried so loud that it could be heard throughout the penal institution. He then fully appreciated that God would never desert and abandon him, and loves him so affectionately.

I am deeply moved by his sharing. Truly, “I am painful, but the Lord is even more painful”, “I was lacerated, but the Lord was even more badly lacerated”, “I suffer, but the Lord suffers even more.” To me, “Footprints in the Sand” is now no longer just a story, it is something real and living with flesh and blood before my very own eyes. I thank God for giving me the chance to experience “Emmanuel”, and witness that “God is with us”.
