Objective 1: Leading Learning: Further developing a co-constructed curriculum that motivates and inspires pupils. Target : All lesson evaluations completed in Geography are judged Good or Outstanding.

Evaluate and revise Key Stage 3 Curriculum so that it prepares students for success at GCSE and beyond. Student Curriculum Leaders to evaluate and co-create a wider range of the curriculum.

Curriculum meeting time. PPA Time Day off timetable with students and JDb
Evaluate GCSE textbook and other resources for effectiveness. Investigate other options if needed.

Write GCSE Economic Geography Scheme of Work.

Peer Observation and Coaching. Observe each other teaching and share good practice / pedagogic risks
All Aim to see each other teach once per term and feed back in Curriculum Meetings. Use curriculum meetings to share successes and risks including lessons learned.
Occasional Cover needed if staff wish to see a particular feature. Anticipate max 6 lessons in total to cover. Curriculum time off site to inspire in Summer Term (July)
Staff to take a pro-active continuous ‘drip’ approach to CPD by engaging with the wider geography community and reflecting using Weblogs

Objective 2: Leading Improvement: Improve the quality of teacher interventions linked to progress and attainment data. Target: GCSE A*-C results improve by at least 13% in 2012 with a reduced residual

Ensure early contact with parents when LUCY data suggests below target progress. Focus on KS4 and Yr 9

BBC School report. Identify a group of year 8 students to take part in BBC School report, creating a contribution that attracts attention from the city

Dysarticulate. Allow all of Year 7 to participate in an on-site mock up of the Dysarticulate project linking to our place. Full scale event to take part with the University of Portsmouth linking to Our Place

Olympic Geocaching Project. Run a Year 8 compettition to design a Geocahe to be placed on the site of the 2012 Olympic Road Race – Box Hill

Continue to provide CPD and enrichment for Staff around the City through the Geography Network hub at the school. This will include a joint project to create a pupil ‘Oceans Academy’ in conjunction with the BBC’s Frozen Planet advisor and Digital Explorer.
