Craving? Listen to your body

whole-grain breads/pasta, nutsand complex carbs, which willbalance your levels and notcause spikes or create a roller-coaster effect inside you.

• Salt/sodium is one of themost important of minerals.Hormone fluctuations can causethis craving. Look into youradrenal glands which may beworn out due to stress. Learn torelax and manage your stress.

•Cheese craving is oftenconsidered caused by fatty-aciddeficiency. A need for cheese re-quires a natural remedy, like

deep sea fish, walnuts, flax seedoil, or salmon.

•Red meat is another crav-ing. Most women may not real-ize that they are deficient iniron. So when the need forsomething meaty overwhelmsyou, this may be an indicationthat your body needs more iron.Vitamin C and iron are compati-ble and are an ideal pair. Soload up on vitamin C rich foodssuch as citrus fruits, tomatoes.

•Munchies should be takenwith caution. If you are a peren-nial snacker and always surren-

der to the habit of munchingpotato chips, popcorn, chicharon, try to take them in small por-tions since too much of themmay lead to weight gain.

Junk foods are “empty calo-ries” in that they lack nutrition-al value. The reason why youreach out for junk food is prob-ably because you may only bedehydrated.

So, before you stuff yourmouth with junk, it is best todrink two glasses of water first. This ought to ease your crav-ings somewhat.

By Cory Quirino,Inquirer Lifestyle

I T’S a two-way traffic. If your body can talk to you,you can likewise talk to your body.

Consider cravings. Thereisn’t a single person that hasnot experienced a craving.Whatever affects the body isclosely connected to the mind.So a craving for food stemsfrom some deep-seated emo-tional or psychological desire.

Food•Chocolate ranks high on

many people’s cravings list. Be-cause chocolates are high inmagnesium (especially darkchoco with 70 percent cacao con-tent), it may mean that yourbody is deficient from this miner-al. Natural sources of magnesiumare fish, nuts, leafy greens, andseeds such as sesame, sunflower.

Magnesium is good for theheart; it also relaxes the mus-cles. This is why you will noticechocolate’s relaxing effect on thebody within minutes of eating it.

If you choose to succumb to

a chocolate craving, go for darkinstead of milk chocolate. It ishigher in antioxidants and low-er in fat.

•Peanuts are called “brainfood” (along with fish, especial-ly tuna, mackerel, sardines). They have the immediate effectof relaxing the brain.

• Sweets can be addicting,so go easy on them. When yourblood sugar drops (because youdon’t eat regularly) your body isactually pleading to keep thesugar level stable.

The only answer is to eatlow glycemic food. High-glycemic food normally forms amajor part of sugar craving, such as for ice cream, candiesand pastries.

Refined sweets will sendyour blood sugar soaring, so becareful. Choose instead a fruit(like apple, kiwi, guava) or

Thermogenic acceleratorrevolutionizes exercise

HDI gathered sports and fitnessexperts and enthusiasts in an af-ternoon of advocacy, knowl-edge-sharing, and inspiration atthe soft launch of itsrevolutionary sporetsline Bodivance.

B o d i v a n c e , abrand owned exclu-sively by HDI, teasedthe audience with itsfirst products in themarket— a workoutcream that works as athermogenic accelera-tor and vasodilator.

As a thermogenicaccelerator, it helps in-sulate heat in the mus-cles, increasing perspi-rat ion and calor ieburn. As a vasodilator,i t helps widen theblood vessel diameter to increaseblood circulation in muscles, thusspeeding up the flow of oxygenand nutrients to exercising mus-cles. With the increased circula-tion, lactic acid build-up is less-

ened, allowing athletes to workout harder and longer without theusual aches and pains that accom-pany a tough training session.

D e v e l o p e d a s aworkout cream forathletes, the productcan also be used tohasten the heal ingprocess from existingsports injuries. Be-cause of the way itworks, those sufferingf r o m a r t h r i t i s ,rheumatism, and vari-cose veins—medicalconditions that arecommonly caused yinadequate blood cir-culation—will alsofind relief from usingthe product.

BuriedDirected by Rodrigo Cortés

ParanormalActivity 2Directed by Tod Williams

Take note, magdala ng kasama.

Rebyu ni Vives Anunciacion

L UMELEVEL-UP na ang mga ito. Si Vice Ganda, may blockbuster hit na. Si Ryan Reynolds, mayOscar-worthy performance sa Buried. At ang

Paranormal Activity 2, mas nakakatakot nga kaysa sauna. Asenso.
