The KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) Mayor, Councillor Ricardo Mthembu has assured that solutions to problems will be brought forward by designated groups in the KwaDukuza Youth Indaba to find expression in government programmes so that Council delivers according to respective needs and priorities.
“The government that is led by His Excellency, President Jacob Zuma has ensured that it brings into sharp focus the issue of development of designated groups, including the young people of our country”, said Mthembu.
Mthembu was speaking at the opening ceremony of the two day Youth Indaba which would lay out plans for young people to align themselves with government and sharpen policy instruments in a bid to deal with the development challenges.
“The achievement of the objectives of the National Development Plan requires progress on a broad front. There are three pillars that stand out which include are raising employment through frisk economic growth, improving the quality of education, skills development and innovation and building the capability of the state to play a developmental as well as transformative role.
“As Mayor of KwaDukuza, I expect this gathering to come up with ways to improve the interventions we have already put in place in order to respond appropriately to the challenges faced
by the young people of KwaDukuza. We as Council are in a process of finalizing our budget into the next financial year with the resolutions that are to be taken today helping us determine the needs and the necessary budget to be allocated t o t h e y o u t h programme so that they can become role-p l a y e r s i n t h e m a i n s t r e a m economy,” he said.

Rapist gets four life termsBy Xpress Reporter
The KwaDukuza Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, always get their man (in this case a rapist) as they have proved consistently when handling cases within and without the KwaDukuza jurisdiction.
Their investigations resulted in the conviction of a 34-year-old Selvan Govender and sentencing
to four life terms imprisonment for raping two young women on separate occasions and six years for kidnapping both, at the KwaDukuza Regional Court on Wednesday, 25 March 2015.
According to KwaZulu-Natal SAPS liaison officer Colonel Jay Naicker, the Umhlali rapist was sentenced to two terms of life imprisonment for the rape he committed in consecutive months - April 2009, another two terms of life imprisonment for the rape committed in May 2009 as well as three years for each count of kidnapping in both cases.
“It is alleged that on Friday, 3 April 2009 a 19-year-old was at home in Umhlali when Govender approached her and promised her employment. They both left to for an interview. Whilst on route the accused dragged her to a nearby sugarcane field and repeatedly raped her at a knifepoint until the afternoon. The victim managed to escape later in the afternoon and reported the matter to the police,” said the Colonel.
The second incident saw Govender rape a 17-year-old girl repeatedly “until late in the afternoon” at a nearby sugarcane field.
“In the other incident on Tuesday, 5 May 2009 at Umhlali, Govender approached a 17-year-old girl to accompany him to his home. While on route Govender threatened her and dragged her into a where he repeatedly raped her. World Autism Awareness DayBy Xpress Reporter
World Autism Awareness Day on Thursday, 2 April 2015 aims to shine a light on autism as a growing global health crisis. Activities surrounding the day help to increase and develop world knowledge of autism and stress the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention.
Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills.
This is a physical condition linked to abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain. The exact causes of these abnormalities remain unknown, but this is a very active area of research.
Autism causes children to experience the world differently from the way most other children do. Children who have autism usually keep to themselves and many can't communicate without special help.
Autism remains a challenging condition for children and their families, but the outlook today is much better than it was many years ago.
Today, with the right therapy, many of the symptoms of autism can be improved, though most people will have some symptoms throughout their lives.

(ABA)· Medications· Occupational therapy· Physical therapy· Speech-language therapyThe Xpress Times approached
the Stanger Training Centre to find out more about learners with Autism. According to Speech-Language Therapist, Sumaiyah
Moosa, there are 25 learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ranging from ages 4 to 17, at the school.
“We have two Autistic Units, each with an educator. Learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder have numerous challenges, such as communication; behaviour and sensory difficulties. Educators therefore take into account these challenges when working with
learners with ASD. Because learners with ASD respond better to visual stimuli, classroom structure and communication is provided visually as far as possible, using pictures; photos; symbols and/or objects,” said Moosa.
She added that Speech-Language Therapy and Occupat ional Therapy services are provided at the school.
“The school has a n A u t i s m Committee, which serves to attend to any problems with
learners with ASD and provides support to parents and educators,” she said.
Parents of children with Autism and other interested persons can contact the school as follows: Stanger Training Centre; PamHaven Drive, Glenhills, Stanger or call 032 552 5498.
was renamed as Family Day in 1995.
This extra day off for the holiday was meant to give families more quality time
together and to allow them to go on vacations with friends and family.
The government of South Africa emphasizes spending quality time with family on this day so that people can get together and have a celebration. Friends, relatives and family members gather together, have meals, and enjoy their time with the people that are most important to them.
Many people go on vacation with their families and friends or may even invite their friends and neighbours to join in the family feast. Locals may spend the day at the beach or having a braai while enjoying the company of family.
Therefore, the day has great significance to all South African citizens as this is a public holiday. The importance of Family Day is uniting families together in the spirit of the holiday.

Huge hikes set to skyrocket cost of living in Ballito and surroundings
Umgeni Water has applied for an increase of 41.1 percent on water supplied to Ballito, Tinley Manor, Salt Rock, Shakaskraal, Etete, Nkobongo, Shayamoya and Zikhalafukwe. However, the first thing that comes to mind is that Umgeni Water is another Eskom. With that will go top management suspensions, R1 million bonuses, incompetence, no skilled workers, load shedding, a run-down economy and a junk status credit rating. Last year's increase was 11% - double the inflation rate. The developments should be financed from the extra water sales. The government spends R7 billion a year on water? Where is the 3 to 5 year or 10 year plan?
Umgeni Water has no proof that we are “rich” as the personal tax basis has halved as one million “rich” taxpayers have emigrated. The era of sugar baron has long gone with sugar mills, even a paper mill closing down. Ballito holiday resort has been spoilt by too rapid developments and now considered a dormitory town for the Greater Durban area. Umgeni Water is living in the past. Our area increases are as follows:
1) 41.1% water increase by Umgeni Water;2) 25% electricity increase by Eskom;3) Fuel increase by R1-60 per liter;4) Property valuation increases by KwaDukuza
Municipality will lead to bigger rates increases;5) Ilembe Chamber R100 per one million rand
property valuation to pay for work our Municipality neglects.
6) 1% Personal Tax increase - first increase in 20 years… These increases are ruinous

Employ dedicated policeOur lives are in the hands of the SAPS. We all
believe that government has provided these people to protect us. But I am afraid when I hear about corruption and also employing cronies and also people without experience I support the statement made by DA's MP Dianne Kohler Barnard when she said in the Post: “Get rid of political cronies and employ career-minded police officers who know the ins and outs of the job.” I believe police management right from the top to bottom levels is dysfunctional. We need people who know something about the police services. Long term political cronies who are appointed to positions of authority in fields they know nothing about must end. It is long overdue. Police are under enormous pressure and they do not have access to resources like vehicles. They cannot work together effectively and respond to the increase in crime. Police can get on top of the situation if there are resources. I believe the single biggest problem is poor leadership in all levels of government. Another problem is that the good cops are not rewarded for their hard work because they are under management that is incompetent. We are paying taxes for the police to look after our needs, and yet you find the residents are employing security companies at their own expense. This should not be the case. God bless

“Let's be humble… and sensitive human beings”
I couldn't think of a suitable heading… as i don't know if I'm judging erroneously or not.
It broke our hearts to see an extremely old man lose “his home.” It wasn't a home like yours or mine but a metal storage container in the middle of a vacant land surrounded by long grass. This metal container was also not in a good condition, with serious roof leaks.
This container had been in Dokterskop for many years and yes at times it did harbour rogues, but in the recent months this extremely old man moved in a man that always walked through the residential area of Dokterskop. He worked in the day and around 4:30 pm he would return to 'this home.'
The container was just lying there for many years, with no sole owner staying there or someone keeping things in storage. It was basically untidy. By the way the purpose for this container being there, was a couple of years ago they were servicing the area for development and sale of vacant land/plots. In the mornings he used water from a 5 litre container to wash his face and get himself ready for his days work. He had a chain and lock on the door. He is a person whom we knew off and he used to keep to himself.
However, on a Sunday afternoon, 15 March 2015 a truck came and with much difficulty took away the container. Ironically, it was around the time this man would have normally returned home. We never saw him that afternoon. We don't know if the persons responsible for removing this container had made arrangements with the owner of the container and that this was a true deal.
But what made me write this letter is that last week Monday when I was returning home around 3:45 pm, he was walking aimlessly carrying a loaf of bread in his hand and an hour late when the rain started he was walking again, this time; using his yellow raincoat in the area of the container.
My point is that whichever way it was, whether a genuine deal or not - the persons concerned should have enquired with the residents if there was anyone occupying the container, and they could have assisted in finding an alternate accommodation for him. In this day and age we need to be humane. We never know which day we'll cross paths with our fate…till that day comes let's be humble, compassionate and sensitive human beings.

to enjoy our lives. This was the situation with Adolph Ngobeni. He alleges that he had gone to ask for his R25 he had lent to Fernand Shabangu. On his arrival at Shabangu's house, the borrower accused him of breaking into his house and stealing his DVD player. In spite of protesting his innocence and pleading for his R25, Ngobeni alleges that he was attacked with a knobkerrie and assaulted on his head and shoulder. He managed to flee and sought treatment. being a national crisis at the moment, copper cable criminals are also hard at work. Last week, local traffic officers arrested a Maphumulo man in possession of various copper cables and a side cutter in the Manor area. His arrest followed the loss of cables from poles in the area. The man was found nearby with matching cables in his possession. Khetukuthala Ndimande (27) has been remanded in custody pending a bail investigation.

Also referred to as pens and potjies, this dish is one of those that you either love or hate, and I happen to love it. This dish boiling for hours with the smell hanging in the air turns into a delicious curried version with even more cooking time. Now we have Pressure cookers so we can enjoy this delicacy with a shorter cooking time and minus the smell.
Serves 6 8 people
You will need the following ingredients:1 kg sheep or ox tripe, cleaned and cut into strips or bite size pieces1 kg trotters2 onions, chopped60 ml white wine vinegar6 8 black peppercorns1 bay leaf2, 5 ml salt or more to taste15 ml curry powder5 ml tumeric150 ml chicken or vegetable stock6 8 potatoes, peeled and quarteredsalt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1. Place all the ingredients, except potatoes, in a Pressure cooker. Cover with the pressure cooker lid and heat over a medium temperature until the indicator reaches the red level. Reduce heat slightly and allow to cook for 30 to 40 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and allow indicator to drop completely. Add potatoes and cover with the pressure cooker lid, again heat over a medium temperature until the indicator reaches the green level and cook for 5 - 7 minutes.
3. Remove from heat again and allow cooking indicator to drop completely before opening. Check that potatoes are soft and meat is tender.
4. The dish will be very saucy so roughly mash the potatoes to thicken the sauce. Season to taste and serve with rice, pap or Samp.
Tips:· Soak the tripe and trotters in some
vinegar water to reduce the smell.· If you find the stew saucier than your
liking add some corn flour after step 2. Bring to a simmer until thickened.
· Add a tin of drained butter beans to your dish.

UN report outlines 'devastating year' for Palestinians
(Aljazeera) The year 2014 claimed more Palestinian civilian lives than any year since the 1967 war, the United Nations has said in a report, with a senior member of the agency dubbing it a “devastating year” for the occupied territories. The annual Humanitarian Overview, released by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Thursday, said the crisis affecting Palestinians' lives,

My name is Maboshadi from Soshanguve. I am 48 Years old. For 9 years I have been
suffering all along with my children since my husband passed away. I tried different ways
to change the situation from healers priests but nothing seemed to work for me. The
business that my husband was doing collapsed because of debts. I didn’t know what to
do for my children, luckily enough I saw a testimony in the newspapers about Prof Moosa
Thanks to Sarah she was talking about this Prof Moosa how he helped her with his magic
wallet that changed her life. At first I didn’t have hope with what Sarah was saying. I
lately decided to call Prof Moosa for my financial problems.
I explained everything to him and he said he will help me but I have to choose between
the magic wallet to bring money. Short boys to put money, rats to bring money, either
luck wallet, I choose luck wallet to bring money in my house. That’s when I call him to
make an appointment to visit him to his office and he explained to me how to use it.
The following day in the morning he phoned me to check where I put the magic wallet. I
couldn’t believe what I saw in my bag. It was full with money that I never have seen
before. I called Prof Moosa to ask him what I should do with the money. He just told me
to take the money and close the bag. Since then my life has changed completely.
Prof Moosa helped my business is doing well. I managed to settle all the debts that my
husband left. My children are happy and I bought my own house. I opened a big
business and every day im counting money. Thanks Prof MoosaAre you feeling totally helpless & heartbroken & financially miserable. Don’t loose hope just call Prof Moosa on his number

Anger is the emotional response that we have to an external or
internal event perceived as a threat, a violation or an injustice. It
has been widely theorised that anger is an adaptive response
and is a version of the fight or fight response, which in
turn is believed to have evolutionary usefulness in
protecting us from danger.

The entire Christian community will celebrate this week the death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many will proclaim this historic event and take those that follow Christ on a journey where they will reminisce on all that transpired in the days leading up to the Cross. The greatest truth concerning the death of Christ is that, it is the power of the Cross that has the potential to transform the

barrage from the Frenz outfit in the early parts of the game and went on to provide an exciting but close win in the first set. Darnall went on to win 25-20. Frenz regrouped and came back with a vengeance in the second set but astute defence and scintillating cover from the sugarcane lads kept Frenz in abeyance. Darnall went on to claim the second set 25-19 and

Both teams gave their everything for victory and matched each other with every point and the leader board changing hands on numerous occasions. With Grove Endleading 15-14 KSST forced a point to level the scores 15-15. worst sinner on this planet. The Cross was and still is
available to give every person an opportunity to know the Saviour that gave His life for the sins of mankind. The Bible states, “but God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). The love of Christ compelled him to die for the salvation of
mankind. The events of the Cross can be summarized in the contrasting effect that it had on four people at the time of Christ's death.
Firstly, there was Pontius Pilate who was the Governor of the day. He was asked by the people to pronounce judgement on Jesus. Pilate was warned by his wife who had a dream that Christ was innocent, but he allowed the crowd to dictate his actions. The truth is simple; Pontius Pilate was so close to Jesus but so far from the truth.
Secondly, there were the
Pharisees who were the “Spiritual leaders” of the day. They were called the “separate ones.” These people were schooled with all the knowledge o f t he anc i en t Scriptures , but they didn ' t acknowledge that Christ was the Saviour of the world. They were so re l ig ious but they had no relationship with God. The lesson to be learnt from these people is that we must know Christ Jesus intimately and not just do 'lip service.'
Thirdly, there was the first prisoner who hurled insults at Jesus and said; “save yourself and save us.” He was receiving the correct punishment for his actions, but he was looking for physical salvation. It is easy to say to Jesus be our Saviour, but so difficult for Him to be Lord of our lives. Jesus Christ must Lord over all aspects of our lives.
Finally, there was the second prisoner that hung on the Cross next to Jesus. He didn't look to Jesus only
for his salvation, but he allowed Him be Lord in his life. In humility he said to Jesus “remember me when you come into yourKingdom.” This prisoner received the pardon of Salvation because Jesus told him; “today you will be with me in Paradise.”
This Easter as we remember the Death of Christ we also celebrate the life of Christ, because on the third day he resurrected from death to life. The angel of the Lord declared to the women who came to the empty tomb; “He is not here he has Risen.” Jesus Christ is alive and He is available to anyone who will call upon His name.
Be blessed, stay blessed & be a blessing.

the importance of health and fitness”.
“With the majority of schools scheduled to host their inter-house athletics meeting during the 2nd term, parents must take advantage of giving their children a head-start in toning those muscles ahead of the sprint events”.
T e w a r y added that the children were addicted to the television, TV games, I-pads
and even cell phones and getting them to play sport is a nightmare for parents.
There will be two sessions each day, with the first one commencing at 9.30am and the 2nd starting at 10.30am. Parents may choose any of the two sessions. The cost is R100 for the 4-day clinic.
