  • Abstract of the Study

    A Proposed Programme to Develop the Ability on Algebric Verbal Problem Solving of Principle 9th grade female students in Gaza

    This study aims to propose a program in School Mathematics in order to develop the ability of solving Algebra Verbal Problems for 9th class. The problem of Study is concentrated in the following question: What is the effect of the proposed program for developing the ability of solving Algebra Verbal Problems of 9th class in Gaza? The sample consists of two organized classes in Hassan Salama School for Girls. The sample was divided into two groups: one as a controlled sample , while the other is as an experimental sample. The experimental group contained students that were taught the proposed program by the researcher, while the controlled group contained students that were taught the text book by the researcher too. The proposed program included three variables in eight lessons on the roots (square, and cube) The variables are: *problems with drawings/without drawings. *problems with one demand/with many demands *problems with necessary information/increased information. The results of the study were summarized as following: There are statistical significant differences at level ( , a) of the 9th grade students at Gaza on the ability of solving algebra verbal problems due to the Programme such as the experimental group showed better degrees than the controlled one . In the light of the results of this study and suggestions are oriented to teachers, supervisors, text book designers and the policy makers who should be interested in mathematical verbal problems in Palestine, and providing help to students to acquire the ability for algebra verbal solving problems.
