  • Definition of Candidacy and DenialCandidacyAffiliation status indicating that a school has achieved initial recognition with QNSA, and is ready for self-study and full accreditation process.Schools have 18 months to complete self-study and apply for full accreditation.DenialDetermined when a school does not fully meet SEC-QNSA criteria for accreditation candidacy.Schools may wish to reapply after deficiencies/areas of concern have been resolved during next candidacy cycle.

  • QNSA Candidacy Cohort 223 Schools Applied in October 2011 including British, American, Kindergarten, and Arabic schools17 schools have successfully qualified for candidacy.All schools will be receiving a report from QNSA highlighting the visiting team commendations and recommendations/suggestions for schools to look at for future accreditation purposes.Schools who have not qualified and have received denial at this time, are encouraged to reapply in the next cycle period of April once issues highlighted in the QNSA report have been addressed/rectified.

  • Built a local Qatari system equivalent to the international accreditation systems in performance and quality, and achieving the principles of the education system in the State of Qatar, in order to verify the quality of the performance of private schools, and working constantly to raise their level from kindergarten to the 12th Grade.The launch of the National School Accreditation Initiative in March 2011.Meetings with school directors in order to publicize and communicate the Qatar National School Accreditation system, standards, and protocol for achieving candidacy.Conducted field visits to schools applying for candidacy for the National School Accreditation (19 schools in the first cohort and 23 in the second cohort ).Candidacy awarded towards the Qatar National School Accreditation: (15) schools from the Cohort 1 and (17) schools from the Cohort 2.The preparation of the school Accreditation Policy, Handbook, Protocols Signed an agreement via MOU with WASC for accreditation purposes.Held first of continual training workshops for private schools on conducting a self-study (by The Western Association of Schools and Colleges).Achievements of 2011-2012

  • The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of the largest specialized organizations in the international accreditation of schools and colleges, which has a global reputation and fame, and is one of six regional accreditation associations in the United States of America.WASC has granted accreditation to more than 4500 schools around the world.WASC provides assistance and support for the U.S. government and the Ministry of Education in the U.S., in addition to the ministries of education in many other countries.WASC is working with international schools in Asia such as in China, Thailand, and Korea.WASC will support the National School Accreditation unit in the State of Qatar through training, and in reviewing the standards and protocols, while serving as an advisory body in providing guidance.
