Anti-Slip Floor Treatment Agent for Flooring

1.0 Description

Slips and falls on wet surfaces are a major and regular problem for all types of commercial establishments

and residences. STEPGUARD F222p is designed to tackle this costly problem by a safe, quick and

professional method to increase the coefficient of friction for most surfaces and thus helps reducing slip

injuries. STEPGUARD F222p is easy to apply, low in odour and does not noticeably alter the appearance

of the surfaces.

2.0 Instrument / Criteria in Defining Slip Potential

The slip/skid resistance of a surface can be measured by the European Standard BS EN 13036-4:2011

using a Pendulum Tester. This test can be directly carried out in the field and the Pendulum Test Value

(PTV) can be obtained instantly.

The Pendulum Tester consists of a standard rubber slider (Slider 57 for vehicular traffic/ Slider 96 for

shoed traffic) mounted on a pendulum arm. When the pendulum arm is released from a horizontal

position, the rubber slider passes through the test surface and energy is lost through the process. The

slip/skid resistance is reflected by the loss of energy, which is proportional to the reduction in length of

the upswing against a calibrated scale and the value obtained is known as the PTV.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE), a non-departmental authoritative public body of the United Kingdom whose

report has been used in the common law cases, has published a technical information sheet about “Assessing the

slip resistance of flooring” in 2012 and gives the interpretation of pendulum results as follows:

Suggestions from Master Proofer Technical Department:

PTV 0-24: It is unsafe. Arrange a floor treatment as soon as possible.

PTV 25-35: It is acceptable for normal walking attitude and conditions. Regular check should be performed

to avoid the lowering of PTV due to dirt accumulation.

PTV 36+: It is a comparatively safe surface for normal walking attitude and conditions. A regular check

should be performed every year.

*Apart from the regular instrument calibration, a calibrated rubber slider that is within its validity period should

be used in order to obtain a correct PTV. If the pendulum tester cannot be used for testing in some places where

the space is not enough, ASM 725 could be used as a reference such that SCOF 0.6 approximately equals to PTV

25-28.

*The above indicative treatment time acts as a guide only. If the existing substrate has been treated with other chemicals, it might alter our suggested figures. Optimum treatment time can vary depending upon the surface involved. Always perform a test in an out-of-way area to verify the proper treatment time for a particular floor. Do not treat exceed 60 minutes. Do not apply STEPGUARD F222p on those surfaces where sealers or other coating has been treated before. Treatment may slightly lighten dark grout, please perform a test to ascertain if it is acceptable.

5.0 Application a. Put on rubber gloves.

b. Sweep the floor. Clean the floor surface by an appropriate cleaning agent (e.g. LABond FLEXCLEAN F223).

c. Flush away the cleaning agent by water (Pressurized water jet within 40-80 psi could be used.) Dry the floor

surface by using a squeegee or towel.

d. Half fill a large plastic bucket with LABond STEPGUARD F222p. By using a mop or lamb’s wool applicator,

spread evenly over areas to be treated.

e. Ensure that floor surface is always evenly wet with LABond STEPGUARD F222P during the entire treatment

time or otherwise the liquid will evaporate and cause spots to appear on the treated surface when the job is done.

f. At the end of application, rinse the floor well with clean water several times until all bubbles are gone. Remove

the remaining water with a squeegee, wet vacuum or auto scrubber and dispose the waste appropriately.

(1) Dilute LABond FLEXCLEAN F223 according to

the technical instruction.

(2) Use appropriate tools to clean the floor by F223.

(3) Flust away the cleaning agent by water and dry the

floor surface

(4) Pour out appropriate amount of LABond STEPGUARD

F222p (Do not dilute, please refer to the coverage for

each kind of surface)

(5) Use appropriate tools to apply F222p.

Continuously check and resupply F222p to ensure

that the surface will not dry out.

(6) Final cleaning after treatment and appropriate disposal.

6.0 Health and Safety STEPGUARD F222p may be stored in a cool closet. Do not allow to freeze. Keep out of reach of children and

animals. Avoid applying on a surface in direct sunlight. The heat will congeal the product and thus causing spots.

1.0 簡介

因地面濕滑而產生的跌倒意外是一個經常發生在各種商廈和住宅的潛在安全問題。在繁忙的日常

運作地點進行快捷、高效能的地面防滑處理是一個使人頭痛的問題。STEPGUARD F222p 抗滑溜地

面處理劑是依據實用、經濟和環保的基礎開發出的產品。除了施工簡單，它氣味低和在完成後不

會明顯改變原地面石材和地磚的顏色和外觀。

2.0 如何介定滑度的儀器與國際標準

地面的防滑度可以透過歐洲標準 BS EN 13036-4:2011 用一部擺式摩擦系數測定儀去量度。這個

測試可直接在現場地面上做，並且能即時得到結果，得出的數值稱為 PTV。

擺式摩擦系數測定儀上有一塊標準橡膠片(車輛地面用 Slider 57 / 行人地面用 Slider 96)安裝在擺

臂末端。當擺臂在水平位置被釋放時，橡膠片會滑過測試地面而造成能量的流失。這能量的流失

反映了地面的防滑度，與因能量流失而減低了的擺度形成正比，透過一個較準了的刻度就能得出

擺式摩擦系數數值(PTV)。

職業健康與安全管理局(HSE)是一個英國權威性非政府部門公共機構，她的報告曾被引用於英國

普通法案例。在 2012 年 HSE 發表了一份關於評估地板材料防滑度的技術文件，並對擺式摩擦系

數測試結果作出以下解讀：

萬寶技術部建議：

PTV 0-24：已達不安全情況，應盡快進行地面處理。

PTV 25-35：在正常的行人態度和步行情況下是可接受的，但要定期檢查因地面累積污物而降低 PTV

的風險。

PTV 36+：在正常的行人態度和步行情況下是相對較安全的地面，可每年做一次例行檢查。

*除日常標準的儀器校對外，(3)橡膠片必須採用仍在有效期內的預設校對物料才得出準確 PTV 讀數。

如因一些狹窄位置未能採用擺式摩擦系數測定儀，可以 ASM725 儀器作參考，其讀數 0.6 大約是 PTV 25-28。

5.0 使用方法 a. 請配戴橡膠手套。

b. 清掃地面，用合適的清潔劑清潔地面(例如 LABond FLEXCLEAN F223)。

c. 用水沖走清潔劑，然後用膠刮或毛巾抹乾地面。(可採用高壓水槍，以 40-80psi 內的水壓便可。)

d. 在一個膠桶內倒入 LABond STEPGUARD F222p 至半滿，用拖把或羊毛清潔工具把抗滑溜地面處理劑均勻塗上地面。

e. 必須確保在整個處理時間中 LABond STEPGUARD F222P 總是均勻地浸濕地面，否則抗滑溜地面處理劑可能被蒸發而導致處理後地面出現斑點。

f. 處理完成時，用水沖洗地面幾次直至沒有泡沫，用拖把、膠刮或吸塵機把殘餘水份清理，把廢物適當地棄置。

(1) 按照技術指示，稀釋 LABond FLEXCLEAN F223。

(2) 使用拖擦工具把 F223 清潔地面。

(3) 用清水沖走清潔劑和抹乾地面。

(4) 將適當份量的 LABond STEPGUARD F222p 倒

出。 (不能稀釋，每平方米用量參考指引。)

(5) 用適當工具塗上 F222p，不斷檢查在處理時間內不

會被風乾並適當補充 F222p。

(6) 處理後沖水清洗和適當處理廢物。

6.0 健康與安全請把 STEPGUARD F222p 存放在陰涼的地方，切勿冷藏，並存放於兒童和寵物不能接觸的地方。避免將產

品用於太陽直射下的地面，以避免太陽熱力使產品凝結而產生斑點。

7.0 技術服務建議聘請萬寶建築化工的合資格使用者使用本產品。萬寶建築化工技術部亦很樂意為客戶提供技術意見。

8.0 包裝與用量每桶 3.78 公升用量: 水磨石(每公升可用 12 平方米)
