w m ’ M y h MLast October a number o women rom FFC attended the annual women’s ministry

con erence held at Elmbrook Church in Wisconsin. Included in this group weremembers o the Women’s Ministry Council as well as women who are active in a

number o ministry areas here at FFC.Following the con erence, a number o discussions were held. The result o

these discussions was that in January the Women’s Ministry Council determinedthat how we do ministry or women here at FFC should be reviewed and theCouncil, as it is now structured, should be discontinued.

Between now and September a number o exciting things will be happening.First, several important ministry activities are continuing. Our commitment to

make the Just Give Me Jesus rally in April a success is moving orward. This isa tremendous revival opportunity and our women continue to encourage par ticipa-

tion, train or ollow up studies, and solicit prayer and nancial support or the event. In addition, our Women’s ABF continues at 9am every Sunday morning in room

208; our Women’s Card Ministry continues to meet on Monday nights in room 139; anda new Wednesday night elective or women, Falling in Love with

Jesus, will begin March 12th. Also the Women’s Circles andThursday morning and evening Beth Moore studies are continu-ing.

During this time o transition, a team o women has been puttogether to help us determine the best next steps or the uture. As part o the process, the team will be seeking input rom avariety o women through interviews and other means. Periodicupdates will be given as this exciting work un olds. Please joinus in prayer as the team is excitedly looking orward to God’sleading to results not even imagined yet!

By Sherri Stufebeem, Children’s Ministry DirectorAt our recent Team Time train-

ing sessions we introduced “TheNumber One Thing” to ourChildren’s Ministry volunteers.Soon you’ll be seeing “TheNumber One Thing” signspopping up all over the

Children’s Ministry. Curious? Good! Here’sthe scoop.

First, a little history. You know how yousometimes read a really great book and itcauses you to take a resh look at something? That’s what happened to our Children’sMinistry sta last summer a ter reading

The 7 Practices of Effective Ministry . We werechallenged to take a resh look at our ministry. We knew we have a church ull o great kidsand a team o capable and passionate volunteerswho love kids, but then came the question: Were we being aspurpose ul and ocused as we could be in what we were doing orand with our children? What is the purpose o our ministry?

That’s where “The Number One Thing” came in. Weconcluded that there were certain basic truths we wanted andneeded to communicate to every child be ore they graduatedto the youth group. At each age level, we wanted to ocus on acentral theme that was appropriate to that age and to their abilityto comprehend. Each o these central themes would be the basis

upon which the next age-appropriate theme would build, withthe ultimate goal o seeing each child come to know and love theLord and have a growing relationship with Him.

A ter a great deal o thought, prayer and research, we haveormed our list o “The Number One Things” or each o our

Children’s Ministry age groups. Now, you may be askingPastor Mike’s amiliar question, “So what?” What will thismean to the sta , children and amilies in our ministry? Aswe explained at our Team Time sessions, we want these to becentral themes with our children throughout their time with us.No matter what the lesson or activity, we want to be mind ul o “The Number One Thing.”

s , h h y … n mb o th g :n yi m lov d ncond t on lly.

Babies can’t understand what we say, but they knowinstinctively HOW we are communicating to them. We needto let them know that WE love them and GOD loves them…FROM DAY 1!

thoughts about God. They understand God’s love and canunderstand that He wants to be their friend. (MOST KIDS will un-derstand sin, forgiveness and their need for salvation by this age!)

M dd e m y (3 d–4 h g d )God w nt m to grow n my r l t on p w t h m.

3rd and 4th graders clearly understand right and wrong and will understand that being a Christian is about a relationshipwith their Lord. They need to be challenged to grow and betaught what that means.

These kids are developing strong opinions, yet are still very“shapeable.” They are beginning to be faced with lots of situ-ations where they need to KNOW WHAT THEY BELIEVE. P Y a mWell, our Armor o God in KZ

Church is almost complete. It looks asi we can de end ourselves quite wellagainst the attacks o Satan. But wait! There may be a problem. I we soldiers

each try to be an army o one, Satancan attack us rom all di erent direc-tions and wear us down. We need thewrapped around protection that is onlyavailable through prayer.

Ephesians 6:18 says, “And pray inthe Spirit on all occasions with all kinds o prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying or allthe saints.” God never meant or us to ght alone. All the armorin the world cannot protect a soldier who tr ies to go it alone. Weneed each other. So keep on praying and know that others arepraying, too!
