I initially came to Chicago to simply study. It’s true that there are many great seminaries in the West, but for whatever reason, I knew that the Lord was leading me in this particular direction. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go”. The story of Exodus is a story about God using various individuals to lead His children into the promise land. I believe that the same goes for our youth group, and that I am only but one of many individuals God has called to lead His children in the direction that He wants us to go. I can sit here and try to come up with an elaborate plan for what I think is best for the youth group. However, that would be no different from when Moses struck the rock on his own account and provided water for the people. I fear making the same mistake of ever thinking that I am able to run this ministry on my own accord. Rather, my desire (and prayer request) is that I will always wait upon the Lord and be sensitive to His guidance and direction for this ministry. As I embark on this exciting journey, I ask that you would partner with me through prayer. As the old saying goes, there is power in numbers. When a person is crying out, he may be heard. A small group will surely be recognized. However, it is only when multitudes gather together that they can no longer be ignored. There is nothing more powerful and encouraging than a support group of prayer warriors calling upon the name of the Lord and seeking the Holy Spirit to work mightily in our midst. We desper- ately need your prayers. Our students need your prayers. The youth group needs your prayers. I ask that we will join in hands, and together call upon the name of the Lord and seek His blessings for His children. Sincerely, Philip Chung Philip Chung

EM/영어부 부임인사

Dear Hebron Family,

As I begin, I would like to first and foremost thank you for

making my transition into the youth group ministry such a

pleasant experience. From warm welcomes to uplifting

encouragements and strong support, it has truly been a

blessing thus far and I thank God for such a wonderful

beginning to a new chapter in my life.

It was only a few months ago that I was sitting in my room

in California, wondering what Chicago would be like, and

let me tell you – it’s been nothing but surprises! I initially

came to Chicago to simply study. It’s true that there are

many great seminaries in the West, but for whatever

reason, I knew that the Lord was leading me in this

particular direction. In fact, if someone were to ask me

why I had chosen Trinity over Talbot, I wouldn’t have had

any other answer to give expect to say that God was

calling me so.

It is often said that hindsight is 20/20 vision. As I reflect

back on the past few months of being in Chicago and all

that’s been happening, I sense a better understanding of

God’s wonderful sovereignty in all that He does. Without a

doubt, I see that God had specific reasons for bringing me

to Chicago, and I believe whole-heartedly that coming to

Hebron was one of those reasons. I am convinced that

God was working in this church, and preparing a way for

me, long before I even set foot in the Midwest. And

although I come with very little experience and feeling

rather inadequate, I take much comfort from Joshua 1:9 as

it says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened,

and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with

you wherever you go”.

The story of Exodus is a story about God using various

individuals to lead His children into the promise land. I

believe that the same goes for our youth group, and that I

am only but one of many individuals God has called to

lead His children in the direction that He wants us to go. I

can sit here and try to come up with an elaborate plan for

what I think is best for the youth group. However, that

would be no different from when Moses struck the rock

on his own account and provided water for the people. I

fear making the same mistake of ever thinking that I am

able to run this ministry on my own accord. Rather, my

desire (and prayer request) is that I will always wait upon

the Lord and be sensitive to His guidance and direction for

this ministry.

As I embark on this exciting journey, I ask that you would

partner with me through prayer. As the old saying goes,

there is power in numbers. When a person is crying out,

he may be heard. A small group will surely be recognized.

However, it is only when multitudes gather together that

they can no longer be ignored. There is nothing more

powerful and encouraging than a support group of prayer

warriors calling upon the name of the Lord and seeking

the Holy Spirit to work mightily in our midst. We desper-

ately need your prayers. Our students need your prayers.

The youth group needs your prayers. I ask that we will join

in hands, and together call upon the name of the Lord and

seek His blessings for His children.

Sincerely,

Philip Chung
