Songs and rhymes

'Song stuck in my mind phenomena'Song are fun, enjoyable and rememberable, especially when there's a lot of move, action and mime involved to go along with singing or crooning:i.e. ''Pizza train chain chant'', ''Are you sleeping, brother John''....

Let students be creative and get them to come up with their own lyrics and versions or renditions:

1,2 look at you shoe; 3,4 close the door5,6 eat you chips; 7,8 don't be late 9,10 use your brain.

Learning English with pop music

''The Lazy Song is a song written by Bruno Mars and American singer, songwriter from The USA.

The lyrics to the song are humorous and are about just having a relaxing day and not doing much else.

As well as humorous lyrics the video itself is entertaining to watch!

You can learn the phrase ' I don't feel like...., revise use of Present Continous Tense, know some slang words like 'chilling' and short forms like 'wanna', 'gonna' 'cause'

The lyrics go like that:Today I dont feel like doing anything I just wanna lay in my bed Dont feel like picking up my phone So leave a message at the tone Cause today I swear Im not doing anything.......

A new approach to using video

Pre-watching activities:Pupils read and listen to what people say in the film and try to guess or predict.

While-watching activities:Pupils take notes and find out if they were right.

Post-watching activities:Pupils tell the story, describe, answer lots of questions, express their views, compare a plot to real life, write review.

How to use a padlet in a classroom?

Padlet is a free, online '' virtual wall'' tool where users can express thoughts on the topic of your choice. It's like a piece of paper but on the Web.

For a practical classroom example, pupils can add a post-it to your wall with a word that has a long "A" sound in it.
