INTRODUCTION

GENEVA HISTORY

Geneva on the Lake

A small village located on the shores of Lake Erie about an hour's drive east of Cleveland, and it is a part of the city of Geneva, Ohio.

In the early 1900s, Midwest inventors and businessmen, John D. Rockefeller, Henry Ford, and Harvey Firestone, chose the spot to spend camping weekends.

The spot brought them back, again and again, and from that year, Geneva-On-The-Lake became Ohio’s First Summer Resort.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS Water pollution: Contamination of the Lake Erie.

Ohio's beaches are among the most polluted in the country.

It continued to suffer from serious contamination and pollutants by human and animal waste, ranking 29th out of 30 states.

Studying water samples collected along the Lake Erie shoreline, 22% exceeded public health standards for beach water.

The huge problem is “aging and failing infrastructure, a lot of combined sewer systems that flow directly into the lake.”
