I would like to nominate Glenn Ellison, CEO of the organization and his wife Sheila. I'm quite certain you will receive several other nominations for Glenn and Sheila from their army of volunteers, like me. This program is dedicated to helping parents learn new techniques for parenting strong- willed kids. The program's mantra is "changed parents will see changed kids." Many good children make bad choices and the goal of this program is to keep these kids from being expelled from school, entering the juvenile justice system, etc. Glenn and Sheila's program begins with a conference which parents/guardians attend to learn the foundations of parenting strong-willed kids. From there, they join a parent support program where they attend weekly meetings. After attending at least one parent support meeting, the parents and child(ren) attend camp consequence. At the camp, parents observe how to manage and discipline their children without anger and the children learn the law of consequences. The program has grown and now includes Max's Farm, a boys home that is certified by the DCF and the Florida Department of Education. It's a certified public school that will someday be open to girls as well. What makes this program unique and the reason I am nominating Glenn and Sheila is for the following: They run the program through his group of dedicated volunteers. There is no paid staff for the conference, the parent support meetings (there are several locations), the camp or the school. Funding is through in-kind and financial donations, mostly from their volunteers and the annual fundraiser, Night of Firehouse Cooking. There is little charge for the conference or the camp and the fee for the school is miminal. There is no profit, the money that is brought in pays for four electric bills, the running of the monthly camp and the daily efforts to run the school, which includes a full-time certified teacher and house parents. The program does not receive any government funding and is not affiliated with the United Way. The cost of food alone is astronomical. The monthly camp usually has about 30 to 40 people that need to be fed; the kids at the school need to be fed. It's just amazing to see the amount of work that goes into this program. Glenn and Sheila's work is a ministry. They are at the school everyday, attend every parent support meeting (about four a week), facilitate the monthly conference and work the monthly camp, which is located at the Montgomery Correctional Facility off of Lannie Road. Glenn and Sheila are on call 24/7. I know, because my husband and I became involved in the program about four years ago when my two boys, who are 18 months apart, just started going off the deep end. Through the program, our home life has improved and our children's behavior and grades have improved. We still have our issues, and that's why we remain with the program.

Hello, my name is Amy Barr and I am involved with the Empowered Parent/Camp

Consequence Organization. I would like to nominate Glenn Ellison, CEO of the

organization and his wife Sheila. I'm quite certain you will receive several other nominations for Glenn and Sheila from their army of volunteers, like me.

This program is dedicated to helping parents learn new techniques for parenting strong-willed kids. The program's mantra is "changed parents will see changed kids." Many

good children make bad choices and the goal of this program is to keep these kids frombeing expelled from school, entering the juvenile justice system, etc.

Glenn and Sheila's program begins with a conference which parents/guardians attend to

learn the foundations of parenting strong-willed kids. From there, they join a parent

support program where they attend weekly meetings. After attending at least one parentsupport meeting, the parents and child(ren) attend camp consequence. At the camp,

parents observe how to manage and discipline their children without anger and the

children learn the law of consequences. The program has grown and now includes Max's

Farm, a boys home that is certified by the DCF and the Florida Department of Education. It's a certified public school that will someday be open to girls as well.

What makes this program unique and the reason I am nominating Glenn and Sheila is for

the following: They run the program through his group of dedicated volunteers. There isno paid staff for the conference, the parent support meetings (there are several locations),

the camp or the school. Funding is through in-kind and financial donations, mostly

from their volunteers and the annual fundraiser, Night of Firehouse Cooking.

There is little charge for the conference or the camp and the fee for the school is miminal. There is no profit, the money that is brought in pays for four electric bills, the running of

the monthly camp and the daily efforts to run the school, which includes a full-timecertified teacher and house parents. The program does not receive any governmentfunding and is not affiliated with the United Way. The cost of food alone is astronomical.

The monthly camp usually has about 30 to 40 people that need to be fed; the kids at the

school need to be fed. It's just amazing to see the amount of work that goes into thisprogram.

Glenn and Sheila's work is a ministry. They are at the school everyday, attend every

parent support meeting (about four a week), facilitate the monthly conference and work

the monthly camp, which is located at the Montgomery Correctional Facility off of Lannie Road.

Glenn and Sheila are on call 24/7. I know, because my husband and I became involved in

the program about four years ago when my two boys, who are 18 months apart, just

started going off the deep end. Through the program, our home life has improved and our children's behavior and grades have improved. We still have our issues, and that's why

we remain with the program.

We attend the weekly parent support meetings and I volunteer every month at the camp. I

can tell you first hand the amount of work it takes to set-up and breakdown the camp.

Putting up tents, getting the kitchen prepared for the meals, obtaining guest speakers, organizing the jail tour for the kids/parents, scheduling the volunteers for the daily work

and nightly fire watch; taking down the tents, laundering the orange jump suits, etc.

Glenn and Sheila have been there for us and other parents in the program. I've had Glenn

on the phone at 1a.m. on a weeknight, 7a.m. on a Friday morning and Sheila as well for various issues. I'm just one parent, but they are there for us and they are there for the

countless other members of the program. They basically hav three full-time jobs and no

paycheck, but somehow manage to grow the program while supporting the parents andkids.

Sheriff Rutherford, Angela Corey, Matt Shirk and Judge Crenshaw are just a few of their

supporters from the public sector. They see the value of the program and recognize how

their efforts are making a difference in our community I hope you will consider the

Ellisons for this recognition, they are not only helping our community, they are savingkids and even marriages. They are keeping children out of the system by helping parents

become proactive and teaching kids the laws of natual consequence. I love the program, Ilove Glenn and Sheila like family. They have nurtured the parents and children. They

have created a network for parents. They have changed the lives are more than 1,000

families.
