Christ, our paschal lamb, has been sacrificed; Let us then feast with joy in the Lord.

The Acts of the Apostles reminds us that we bear witness to the risen Lord. The presence of Christ is within us, making us new, turning us into stewards of the Good News. There is no more time for holding grudges, disliking others, seeking vengeance, maintai-ning old prejudices, tolerating bias. We are Christ’s joy and instru-ments of his peace. Our world is reordered. We are Easter people.

Rejoice! He is risen! Alleluia!

¡Aleluya!

Question of the Week

Easter Sunday —John 20:1-9

Key Passage: Mary of Magdala came to the tomb…and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and told them: “They have taken the Lord from the tomb and we don’t know where they put him.”… Simon Peter went into the tomb…and the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived first and he saw and be-lieved.

Question for adults: What is your under-standing of the empty tomb? What do you believe?

Question for children: What is the mean-ing of Easter?

The reading from the Acts of the Apos-tles reminds us that we, too, bear witness to the risen Lord. The presence of Christ is within us, making us new, transforming us, turning us into stewards of the Good News.

There is no more time for holding grudges, disliking others, seeking ven-geance, maintaining old prejudices, tole-rating bias. We are Christ’s joy and ins-truments of his peace. Our world is reor-dered. Reflect on how we are called to let Christ’s forgiveness, reconciliation and love permeate our lives. We are Easter people.

Rejoice! He is risen! Alleluia!

(CRUX Rome) The kind of health care most at risk of being neglected for those who are ill or hospitalized is familial love, Pope Francis told pedi-atric patients. A hospital must always carry out certain procedures and functions, but

“there is the danger, the risk of forget-ting the most important medicine only a family can give - caresses,” he said. The Pope was emphasizing it was critical that hospital staff create a sense of being part of one family with patients and relatives.

(The medicine of Love concluded…)

In the Paul VI audience hall April 10, Pope Francis met with patients, their family members and medical personnel from the Vatican-owned Bambino Gesu children’s hospital in Rome. The children and young people spoke to the pope and gave him photo-graphs and small gifts. He read aloud one note given to him on behalf of all the young patients, who thanked him for meeting with them “because you give us hope and courage for tomor-row.” The pope told them he sensed that, “more than just a hospital, this is a family” because medical staff always introduced the children to him by their names, knew their life stories and only mentioned their illnesses last, like a side note. He said he understands how young patients would be fearful and feel in-secure in the foreign environment of any institution. “Going into a hospital is always scary. I see it when I go up to some kids, not all of them, but some - the little ones - who see me dressed in white and they start crying. They think that I am a doctor” about to give them a shot “and they cry and are afraid,” he said. But, he said, when he strokes them softly they feel reassured. That is why it is so important never to forget to show loving care with a caress, he said. This important “medicine,” how-ever, is very expensive, he said, “because to have it, to be able to give it, you have to put your heart and soul into it, put your whole heart into it, all your love.” The pope said for a Catholic hos-pital to be “Catholic” it must first be “human” and treat everyone as family and as being important.

Most important and costliest medicine?

Love, pope tells patients

By Editor, Catholic News Service, April 11, 2017

Speaking to patients, their family members, and medical personnel

from the Vatican-owned Bambino Gesu children's hospital in

Rome, Pope Francis warned of "the risk of forgetting the most im-

portant medicine only a family can give -- caresses."
