Aftermany months ofworking to getelectricity to thenewcampus the day at lastdawned when the power wasto be turned on to the transformeron the property. A high official in the companywhowas there advised thewatchers to stepbackas they couldnot bequite surewhatwouldhappen when tlieswitchwas thrown. Theswitchwasthrown~andthe entiretransformer promptly exploded. PatrickClinesaid it wasmore than a 4thofJuly fireworks. ThankGodnoonewas injuredor killed. It is a setbackfor the construction process itselfand agreat frustration for theClines, whomustmoveout of their rentalhouseand into their newone by the end ofJanuary.Pleasepray that the repair will be made faster than the original preparations.Kalbs' house is at roof level and the house for whichI raisedthe funds is up to lintel level. Because of somemistakesby the architect, an oversight on our part, and a new law that increases the cost of lumberbyforbidding the production of lumberby chainsaw, the costof the househas goneup to 35,000. The extra5 000 wasavailable bytheendof 1999 but it slowed down thedriveforthe library flmd. Thank you allofyou, who have given and are still giving for our new campus.

After twoweeks ofmarking exams and reports figuring grades andpreparing syllabi for thenew term I leftwith fourGhanaians for a weekend trip to HalfAssini on the southwestern tip of Ghanato visit our fiiendandchurch planter Seth Croffie. We went on a Friday eating a lunch onthewaythat I hadprepared. TheCroffieslive in anapartment in a three-story building. Weweregivenourmealson a big balconyof the third floor. Thefood was generous anddelicious. Asisthe custom wewashed ourrighthand in a bowl ofwater andatewiththat hand unless the food was rice Then we used spoons.Fridayeveningwe all wentwithBro.Sethand a present studentfrom that church, Francis Agbodo, to a villagechurch six miles away. Bro. Seth advisedme to use my mosquito repellent even though we did not need it, tomy amazement,in HalfAssini itself. The preacherwith our team, David Akpessey, gave a short message in thelocal language.Ewe,and the rest was a prayermeeting. Their pole and thatch shelter was really fiall. Lots ofchildren came, too; that is their TV and video.Saturdaywas a relaxingday. Seth took us to a nearbyport town right on the lagoon that separates southernGhana from IvoryCoast. It was a marketday and the streetswerejammed withvendors and theirwares spreadon the roadside. The dock itself, used bymotor launchesand canoesofall sizes, was a hectic place withmanypeople loading and unloading goods. After lunch we relaxed at the beach with Bro. Seth and his children, playing a Bible Quiz gameand Uno, than walking the beach and collecting shells. In the eveningwemet withchurch leaders on the rooftopof the apartment buildingfor a prayermeeting.Sunday, delegations from two village churches joined the HalfAssini church for worship. Their building ismade of a strong local reed and thatched. Just recently they had cemented two-thirds of the floor. The platformarea was still sand and dancing on it during the praise and offering times was hard going David Akpesseypreached again and the three younger members of our team taught the children outside under a tree. The ruralchurches this far west rarely have visitors, and it was a time ofmutual encouragement. Sundayevening, weagain met with local leaders for a prayermeeting on the rooftop in the moonlight.Mondaywe returnedhome, aseven hour journey.

Barbara Kalb and I had a Christmas party as usual for the faculty and staffchildren. We had a more difficulttime than usual getting it together. We are not getting any younger and were still tired from our respectivetrips.Christmas dinner was a joint effort by eight or ten families at Shefflers' home. The same pattern was followedon New Year's Eve. During our devotion at midnight, the Sheffler's granddaughters called from Indiana to wishthem Happy New Year. No Y2K problems here, thank the Lord. After Christmas I had stayed in Rifes' house with my Canadian fiiend Beverly for a week. Wedid someswimming at the sports club, read and played Scrabble. We also ate out in the evenings. However, I had takensome work with me, I had to come to the college or house everyday for a while for one thing or another, and

Dear Friends in Christ ELECTRICITY ON THE NEW CAMPUSOn 5thFebruary, a second attempt was made to turn on the power at the new campus, and it worked PraisetheLord. Now the workers can run power machinery without using a generator, water can be pumped from thewell to a storage tank, and the families who move there will have electricity. In fact, P. C. and Heather Clinemoved into theirnew house onthe new campus onthe 12th of FebruaryWork ontheKalbs house and Manuel Adjei s continues, and the lots arecleared forBrights , Rifes ,and a guesthouse. The men hope to complete the foundations forthe latter three before the rainy season inMay.

NO SURGERY FOR THE PRINCIPALChristian Adjei finally got his blood pressure down to normal, but after further prayer and consideration oftherisk involved, he decided that with continued prayer and massage therapy, he will continue to work as long as hecan instead of risk complete paralysis now should anything go wrong in surgery or inthe after care. We respecthisdecision and will continue to pray for him for strength every day.

PRO TEM BIBLE STUDY TEACHERRather impulsively, our minister asked me to give him a break by taking over the Thursday night class for awhile. I agreed to take itforthree months. I am teaching Genesis and thoroughly enjoying it.

TAKING VISITORS TO THE VILLAGEIrvin Kreider and his wife Lena, from Williamsport, PA, are spending six weeks in the country while Irvinworks hard as an expert carpenter on the new campus. Each missionary family takes a turn in taking them to adifferent church on Sunday and providing their Sunday lunch. It was my turn this past weekend. Although theyhad to sleep at Kalbs, I gave them Saturday night supper and allthe Sunday meals. I took them to a church in afishing village less than 30 minutes drive from here. Bro. Eddie Boafo, a Gaminister, accompanied us, as did myhelper Kwame. Bro. Eddie was guest preacher, and Irvin was called on to give the communion devotion. Theshelter was made from reeds and had a thatched roof Onourway outofthevillage, they showed usthe sizeablepiece of land they have bought. They have also begun to make some cement blocks by hand to prepare for apermanent building.

    PR YER ON ERNS

    March/April 2000CONTRIBUTORS LETTER

Dear Friendsin Christ,AGBATSIVITRIPOn the fourth weekend in March, two days after second term ended, I left for a long-planned weekend to avillage withthree preachers and my young friend wame to do what we could to help revive anearly deftinct church. The originalminister had so much trouble with his eyes that he was unable to keep up with the work. e is also getting up in years, and tocompound the grief, he recently lost a twenty-three-year-old son by drowning. AChristian brother and sister and Igave some money to the younger man who is trying to revive that church tomake a small fishing boat and buy a net so he

can support himselfIwas the driver part ofthe time and also prepared tea and coffee on akerosene camp stove Saturday and Sundaymornings togo with boiled eggs and bread one morning and banana bread muffins and cream cheese the second morning.I had taken those things to help outthe hostchurch a bit. Each member of ourteamalsocontributed about1.25 each tohelp with our feeding. The local folk did the rest. We slept on mattresses on the floor in an empty house. Itwas very, very hot and the mosquitoes were soaggressive that neither repellant, coils nor sleeping nets offered fiill protection. Sofer, no one has become ill with malaria. The Jesus film was shown, along with supplementary preaching; some house tohouse calling was done; a praise andprayer service was held with thechurch members, and a Saturday teaching time was held with some ofthevillagechildren. Sunday morning services forboth children and adults were held. Cooperation from other area ministers wasexcellent. Although there were nodecisions for Christ while we were there, we pray that the seed we planted and wateredwill produce fhiit in the months to come.

CONVENTION PLANNINGAs I mentioned inan earher letter, these monthly meetings take about three or four hours plus the extra time to type upminutes, distribute them, andcontinue to send out information to various leaders. I passed upthemost recent inspectiontripto theconvention site. It isjusttootiring for one day. The convention takes place Easter weekend. Weprayitwillresultin spiritual growth ofthose whoattendand also help win more soulsfor the host church.MISSIONARY CONFERENCEEvery twoyears theChristian Church missionaries ofWestAfncaholda conference for education, inspiration, fellowshipand encouragement. We havejust completed the three daya f at a nice beachresortaboutan hour sdrivefromAccra. One family from Mali, three f^lies from Ivory Coast, six f^ly units (two ofus are single) from Ghana and one couplefromKenyawere present. We werealso blessed by the presence of two noninstrumental Church of Christfemilies fromTogo and one from Benin. We had morning devotions, three workshop times, recreation time the beach is there but I tookneedednaps ontwo of thedays) evening vespers and fellowship times. It is sogoodto see one s fiiends so seldom seenand rejoice together in theLord. Forthe first tune wealsohada guestpreacher s family from Indiana andthe preacher swifeis Marcia OhlHogg whom I knewas a girlgrowing up in Bloomsburg, PA.

PERSONAL NOTESNowthe race withthe calendaris onto get papers and exams marked and grades preparedbeforethe Easterconvention. I preparedthird term syllabuses before our missionaryconference.Ourneighborhood bank, whichat firstwas sucha convenience, has nowgrownso congested (queues an hour long)that this month, sinceI was going downtown anyway, it was easierto do my businessat the downtownbank.Since I returnedlast July, I have paid for repairs to my old air-conditionertwice, but thegas has leakedout againwithina couple weeks of repairso I guess it sjust too oldto get all the leaks out. The hottesttimeof yearis uponus andwill last untilmid-May. I lljust have to save up moneyand get a new one. I didn tuse one for years, but feelI needitnow. I thank the Lord for an unexpectedpersonal gift that can go toward that. Bythe way, personal gifts can no longerbe sent through the mission.

PRAYER POWERThankGod for: a goodmissionary conference; successful completion of secondterm; anotherfeculty houseunder roofat the newcampus; protectionof the team who went to Agbatsivi;good attendanceand interestat the Bible Study I amcurrentlyteaching;the pleasureand companyprovided by feculty and staff childrenas they play in my house;feithfulChristians who support Kingdom work around the world.PetitionGod for: grace to bear the hot weatherin good temper; a spiritually successful Easterconvention; morepersonalevangelism done by Abeka Christian Churchas a resultof a month of teachings; completion of travelpreparations of manycoming in June, July, andAugustto help in various ways.Gratefully and humbly yours,Dorothy Eimson

RECORD BREAKING EASTER CONVENTIONFascinating, thrilling, frustrating, and exhaustingour bi-annual Christian Church national Easterconvention was all of these.Therewere 1500registered adultsplus 300 ormorechildren. This is a campmeeting with folks sleeping on the floors of school classrooms and a community center. The missionaries and afew nationals slept in rest houses. Some people cooked their own food, but many bought food from vendors inthe town adjacent to the school. Pit latrines dug byone ofthe local churches and bathing huts walled with heavyblack plastic sheeting served these basic needs. The main sessions and some of the teaching sessions were heldunder rented canopies. The seating was rented plastic chairs. The nearby city is so sophisticated, they don t rentout benches anymore Some shade trees onthe school grounds were alsoa big help. The ProgramAfter a Thursday evening prayer meeting, the convention began eachmorning witha dawn prayermeeting from 5to6 a.m. (To behonest, the missionaries did not attend) At 8:30, the general service began withworship, offering and announcements. The latter were done in four languages, sometimes five. Then there weretwo separate teaching sessions that closed at 12:30. Because of language, gender andage, there were

different groups going on at once.Friday and Saturday afternoons at 3 p.m. there were workshops. These included a leadership workshopon giving; a Youth Bible Quiz won bySunyani Christian Church, with Abeka coming in second; twoworkshops for S.S. teachers byRonRife andme (mine had28children's teachers in attendance); and twoworkshops on Family Planning, oneforwomen andoneformen. Connie Sheffler andDr.Lydia Nyadorconducted those on Family Planning.Inthe evening there wasan outdoor evangelistic service in the adjacent town. This required thedismantling ofall the lights, amplifiers and speakers, and instruments, and moving them to theopen space in thetown For these services, onlythe local language wasused in thesermon. Bothpreachers utilized somedramaalongwith preaching.Six souls were won through these services.Simday morning service was mainly a worship time and communion service. Then one ofourmissionaries tothe North, WilliamDarko, was ordained. There was also a lot of recognitionof churches and leaders, plannersand workers at the convention, and four millennial awards for long service to the convention. ChristianAdjeiand I received two of those. It's a long service, but a grand finish.

Innovat ionsOurchildren s program was actually planned, withitsownschedule of teachers, classes and lessons, visual aids andcoloring pictures. About 175 children participated in three languages. I spent most ofmy time onthat side. Thechildren were wonderful topickupa plastic chairandcarry it ontheirhead to the classroom and

back again.ConnieSheffler and DorisRife checkedhundredsof blood pressures It was very popular feature, andthey revealed a number whose BPwas toohighandwere advised to seea doctor when theywent home.Trave l t r oub l e sEven though mostpeople hada wonderful time, there was some sorrow as well. Halfof one churchgroup was delayed for many hours when a vehicle broke down. Even more heart breaking, a lady from the Yejichurch gave birth toa babyonthewayandwhen theplacenta didnotcome out as it should, shedied from theexcessive bleeding before they could getherto a decent hospital. A second vehicle from the same church went

overa verysteepembankment and rolledover twicewhenthe driver lostcontrol goingdowna hill. Bythegrace of God, noonedied, but several were injured and three or four women were hospitalized for thedurationof the convention. Another churchwas strandedat the conventiongrounds for an extra 36 hours because theirdriver didn't come for them until one of their members went back to the town and convinced him. He was afraidhe wouldn't get paid.

Persona l no t eMost of the time I caughtrides backand forth to the rest house withother missionaries,as myyoungfriend Kwame was kept verybusy running various errands inmy truck forthe convention. I was so tired at theend of eachafternoon session that I did not go to the evening sessions. I amgettingolder The Shefflers helpedbring some of the equipment backto AccraonMonday morning. Webroughtthe rest. The loadwasveryhigh, sowejust cameslowly andsteadily andarrivedhome safelyat 2 p.m. It wasa goodconvention, and I enjoyedhelping to plan it, but I amalsogladit'sover. It contributes greatly to our senseof brotherhood and unity in theChristian Churches, as well as increases the Bible teaching the members receive.

COLLEGE NOTESWe are now in the third and final term for this school year. How the year has flown. I will have only thedegreestudents for termpaper writing class instead of all the first year students, so that makes my load a bit

lighter. Unfortunately, I am still finishing up second term exams and grades because convention preparation anda three-month turn teaching Thursday night Bible study put me behind. As far as the new campus is concerned,Kalbs house is under roof but much interior finishing remains tobe done. Manuel Adjei s house is receiving the wooden beams that will support the tile roof. Rifes and Brightsfoundation and floors are poured. Now the walls can begin to rise.

D E A T H OF A CH RI S T I A N ROTHERJust four days before we left for the convention, the local (Abeka) church was shocked by the news thatone ofour deaconshad died after being ill for only six days. He was not yet 50 andwas the best educated of ourmature men, being the deputy director of food and agriculture for the Accra area. As the Ghanaians told me,Death news travels fast. I was amazed at how the word spread by word of mouth and by telephone.Immediately, people began to visit the homeand express sympathyto the widow and the three children.Eversince, individuals and groups continue to visit, sing, pray and express their love. Not until we returned from theconvention did we leam that he had died of typhoid fever. He will be buried on Saturday morning. May 20 afteran evening service at the church on Friday.

We are all thankful that the extended family finally agreed to this, as they are not Christians.^ ^ TR INO P L NOT TO HAVE SURGERYAs announced in a smaller letter, Christian Adjei decided to continue in his ministry at the college and in

churches as long as he can, sustained by prayer, rest and massage, rather than take the chance of instantparalysis should anything go wrong in the decompression surgery or aftercare. We respect his decision. He hasresumed teaching one class and the duties of being Principal.

NEXT TE CHER HE DED FOR L INCOLN SEMIN RYMr. Nelson Ahlijah, a New Testament lecturer and accounts clerk, will be leaving for the U. S. just aftermid-August to begin work on a Master s degree at Lincoln Christian Seminary. This is part of the conditions ofservice for teachers here at the college. His wife and four children will remain behind in Ghana.P R AY E R P O W ER

T h an k G o d for: a successful conference for Chris tian Churches miss ionar ies i n W e st A fi ic a here inGhana from April 3-8; a successftal Easter convention; that no one got sick when our one truck team spent aweekend reviving the Agbatsivi church even though the mosquitoes were unbelievable.Petition God for: grace to bear the continued hot and humid weather (it should change a little soon); a differentpreacher for the young Awoshie church; healing for senior student Hassan Izak who leads the Bethel Christianchurch but is suffering fi om heart problems; good coordination and productive visits by ten different batches of-vdsitors romina nnp through August. Some are family some to teach in the short term course, and some to helpat the new campus. Among the total will be two potential workers for Ghana.

Thank God for you. Your love and support in all ways keep us going for the Lord.Dorothy Eunson

    Graduation Successfu l

On July 15 we had our usual grand noisy graduation in the outdoor chapel ofa nearby secondary school. Amajorchange was that starting tune was 11 a.m. instead of 2 p.m. As often happens we startedthe processionalwithoutthe guest speakerand another guestrepresenting the Ministryof Education but theyjoined us on theplatform whenthey arrived. There wasa little trouble with the generator so the congregation missedsome ofthe speaker sexcellent message but everything else went smoothly. SinceI don t fare well when deprived offood for long hours, I was caught withpeanuts inmymouth when it was timeto hand outthe Academic awards.Fortunately, I did not haveto doany talking, but people did notice that I waschewing We graduated a total of52 men and women in the four programswe are now running. We missionaries all wentout to eat at a Chineserestaurant that evening to celebrate.

    ntrance xams

We finished those this past week accepting 18 students for the three residential programs. That figure is verylow so that will be one of the prayer requests below. Onefellow is firom Congo Klnshasha and has learnedEnglish since he came to Ghana five years ago.

New Campus and VisitorsKi^bs moved onJuly 8^ ^ asplanned, although carpenters continued to build closets afljsr Kalbs moved. I wasmistaken inthe June letter: the first work crew rom Kentucky arrives July 23^^ not the 30^. The second batcharrives on the 30^ and the ^ on August 7^.Marge Perry and Rita Arnold arehere and did a special program for Abeka s Women s Fellowship lastTuesday. We had invited three sister congregations and had 65 in attendance. These ladies are relatives ofConnie Sheffler and will do mini-VBS s and another women s program in other congregations.Several menare coming to teach inthe August short-term course, includmg mybrother-in-law, DonFay.

EMAIL WOES AND CEDI DEVALUATIONMy email server was shut down for avoiding certain taxes. Ifitisnotresolved soon, I will find a new server. The cedi is worth only halfasmuch against the dollar asit was a year ago. Forthose ofus with dollar income,it doesn thurttoo badly, butfor Ghanaians on fixed incomes it is devastating.

    PRAYER POW R

THANK GOD FOR: completion of a good school year; the eighteen students accepted for the new year so far;the purchase ofa Risograph for the college office, although ithasn t been cleared from harbor yet; AmericanChristians coming to help; a telephone for me, inherited from Kalbs - 011-233-21-227290.PETITION GOD FOR: morestudents for the September term;a goodAugust course; safe travel andaproductive time for Brian Jennings as he goes to the World Convention Churches ofChrist in Australia torepresent British Churches and also the Restoration Movement work inWest Afiica; also a good term for himteaching at Springdale College in England before returning to Ghana in January.

C O L L E G E R E -O P EN E D 1 1T H S E P T E M B E RSince Nelson Ahlijah is at Lincoln Christian Seminarybeginning work on his Master's degree, I was the onlyfaculty member to supervise freshman orientation on th emorning of 11th September. Officers of t he S tu de ntCouncil also helped, but I wa s exhausted by the time wefinished at12:30. I am not a spring chicken, but ratherthe old gray mare. By 2:40 I was back in the chapelpreparing for general registration. All the other facultyplus three of the wives were also present. We had somebottlenecks in the procedure which need to be changedbefore January, but we persevered and closed by6 p.m.Aftera light supper. I sorted all the grade cards byclassand professor, getting ready for the first day of classesthe next morning. I began to putthe names of firstyearstudents on book pockets for the library, but ran out ofs te am a t 9 :3 0 .We have now completed th e first week of classes. Wehave 29 students divided among the three full-timeprograms. Almost all of the returning students are back.As usual, tis hard to give an exact total; the last figure Iheard wa s 84. A big change for me is tha t th e AcademicAffairs Committee approved my plan to pay the salarymyselfof a part-time English teacher. I am not teachingthat many hours, but am involved in so many extrathings that mentally and emotionally I cannot free myselffor the library work. The college has hired one of ourpast graduates who recently completed a Master'sDegree in Korea to teach the Degree and DiplomaEnglish to th e first year s tudents. I am so relieved. If thathad not happened, I would be marking Englishassignments right this minute The first week is alwayshectic, but we have made it through. Next week shouldbe a little easier. Plans are nearly complete for PrayerWeek th e third week of school.

JUL Y GRADUATION SUCCESSFULThe college graduated a total of 52 students in fourdifferent programs. As usual, it was a grand occasion, beginning for the first time at a.m. instead of 2 p.m. Abit hard on the Americans who are used to eating threemeals a day. We missionaries treated ourselves at aChinese restaurant inthe evening.

Our visitors began arriving at the very end of July andthe last ones left on the 31st of August. These includedthree work teams who put in many long hours of hardwork at the new campus. Four were guest teachers inthe short term course. Tw o ladies coduct ed so m ewomen s programs an d mini-V.B.S.'s in twocongregations. Th e rest were my family All th emissionary families were kept busy keeping everyonefed and comfortable. The new campus workers slept onfoam m a t t r e s s e s on th e floor. We are grateful for all of them, and I am especiallythankful that some of my family came to visit. My sisterBetsy and her husband Don Fay were here somethingover two weeks . Don taught on e week in th e short termcourse. My brother Bill his wife Gerri, and daughterErin were here longer than expected Erin is a pilot forContinental Airlines, so they got special tickets and arealways on stand-by. They got here all righton August14, but all airlines were overbooked going out and evenafter buying business class tickets, the parents could notget out till the 31st. Aftermuch prayer and struggle, Erinwas able to ge t out on the 21st by riding on the jumpseat in the cockpit to London. Actually after a couplehours, they allowed he r to sit in the cabin staff rest area. All the visitors enjoyed the local church services, sodifferent from the U. S. My family attended two or threedifferent congregations. They also all attended an earlymorning baby-naming ceremony. In addition, we strolledthe neighborhood, visited a market, shopped forsouvenirs, went to see a famous slave trade castle, andwalked on a suspension footbridge high up inthe canopyof the rain forest in a forest preserve. Even shopping nour small local supermarkets was a new experience. yfamily also met many of my co-workers and friends

Churches ofChrist in Australia in August. He will returnto Ghana Christian College In early January 2001.Nelson Ahlijah is at Lincoln Christian Seminary workingon his Master s degree. Nelson also does accounts inour Treasurer s office, so we have hired a part-timeacountant to fill th e void.

NEW CAMPUSBro Manuel Adjei will move into his house by the endof this month, even if only two rooms are completelydone. He has already moved his young twin sons to aschool in thatarea and itIsnow an inconvenience to live

G H A N A S E C ON O M IC W O E SThe cedi has continued to be devalued on the international market. It doesn t hurt those of us who have U.S.dollar income, but is terribly difficult for those onfixed cedi incomes. Fortunately, the college isable togivethe Ghanaian teachers quarterly salary adjustments that keep them afloat. Last weekend, some people could notget their money out oftiie bank because the banks were short ofcash. I think the situation isbetter this week.

Dear Friends in ChristBLESSED HOLIDAY GREETINGSMerry Christmas and aHappy New Year with no Y2K problems. I still have my jeni can with 5gallons ofdiesel fuel from last year. Is there an expiration date? Lord willing, Iwill be attending a regional Christmasconvention, enjoying having parties for the faculty and staff children with other missionary women, participatmg in our Christmas Eve Carols Night and Children s program and then ajoint dinner with the othermissionaries on Christmas Day. May your celebrations be Christ-honoring and joyful.

EMAIL CHANGE-AGAINAn earlier server who gave megood service is backonline. Please revert to this address: [email protected]. If I gave a few of you .com in the last couple weeks, please forgive me. Make that change NOW before you forget.WE RE ON BREAKLots of paper marking, grade figuring, and syllabi preparation lies ahead of us. And always lots ofmeetings:Convention planning last Friday, missionary meeting Saturday, and Relocation Committee tomorrow. I do notknow ifIhave mentioned that Iam on the latter committee as long as library design is being discussed.

COLLEGE TO BUILD TRANSCEIVER TOWEROur new campus is beyond the reach of the regular phone system and mobile phones are not reliable at all. Inorder to have stable email and Internet service for families and for the library in future, we have committedowselves to build the tower and purchase the equipment necessary to make this possible. There is an excellentchance that we can recoup some of our investment by lettmg others pay for the privilege of usmg our tower. There are two other Bible Colleges in the area and a third one under construction.

CHURCHES NEED TO BUY LANDWe missionaries have often talked of the need to help churches buy land, especially those in urban areasbecause they cannot survive in the long run without property of their own. Recently, one of the churches inAccra rmsed 1/3 of the cost of11/2 plots by themselves. With the help of the other churches and personal giftsfrom missionaries, they passed the halfway mark. But the equivalent of 1920 is needed to finish paying for theland. They meet in agovernment school and the local governing authority is putting more and more pressure onchurches to pay unafifordable rent for such aprivilege. Another church in the Tema urban area needs 2000 tomeet their target ofbuying two plots. Achurch in asmaller town needs 500. Sometimes they get discouragedbecause the cedi continues to devalue and the owners raise the price faster than the churches can raise themoney. Smce I am helping the college raise the money for the Library/Administration building and since eachofus has agreed to raise up to 3500 to pay for the radio tower and equipment, Ihesitate to ask for more. But itis Kingdom business, so I present the need to you. If the King touches your hearts and you wish to help achurch buy land for apermanent home, send itto Mrs. Barkes, ear-marked CHURCHLAND PURCHASE.THANK GOD FOR: a good term; a new A/C for the principal s office, teamwork ofAccra missionaries witheach other and with FAME; faithful supporters for African Mission Evangelism and its work through GhanaChnstianCollege formany years.PETITION GOD FOR: Healing for the Principal s vdfe Agnes, who has been hospitalized with heart failure;strength for the Principal, Christian Adjei, who is also burying his father on the 9th and who, as the oldest son,has an important role to play in what may be adifficult settlement of the father s estate. Safe and happy visit toGh^a by Nancy Hostetter, former missionary, to her children and grandchildren; safe travel for Irvin and Lenapeider who are coming again to help on the new campus; strength and health and safety for all here and therem U S during the holidays.Love in Christ
