1. The Lunar New Year Holiday period from 18 February thru 22 February 2015 is one of the

greatest traditional holidays in Korea. Those who live in the city will probably take a trip to visit

parents, family and relatives in the country to pay homage to their ancestors.

한국의 2대 명절중의 하나인 음력 설날 연휴가 2015년 2월 18일 부터 2월 22일로

다가오고 있습니다. 고향을 떠나있는 분들께는 이 기간에 그리운 부모님과 형제 자매

그리고 친척들을 만나고 조상에 대한 제례를 치루기 위하여 고향을 방문하실 것입니다.

2. The Korean Road Traffic Authorities report that over 27 million people are expected to travel

during this period. There is a heightened safety concern for employees of the USAG Red Cloud

and Area 1 that decide to travel during this time. Heavy traffic and congested roadways will

increase the risk of vehicular traffic accidents. My staff and I ask you to keep the following in

mind to ensure the safety of all personnel.

이 기간에 약삼천만명 인구의 대이동이 예상되는 만큼 본인은 한국인 직원 여러분의

안전이 염려가 됩니다. 이 기간 동안 자동차를 운전하는 것은 커다란 부담이 될 뿐만

아니라 크나큰 위험이 따르기도 합니다. 본인은 여러 참모와 함께 안전을 기하기 위하여

여러분께 다음과 같이 몇 가지 사항에 유의하시기를 당부 드립니다.

a. Don’t allow anyone to drink and drive.

당신이든, 다른 어떤 사람이라도 음주운전은 절대로 안된다는 것을 명심하십시오.

b. Drive patiently and defensively. Keep yourself and vehicle under control and watch out

for other drivers.

스스로 자제함으로써, 당신과 당신차를 보호하고 다른 운전자의 행동에 주의하여

방어운전을 하십시오.

c. Wear Seatbelts and make sure all personnel in your car wear Seatbelts. Don’t forget,

Seatbelts save lives.

안전벨트는 생명벨트이므로 운행 중에는 모든 사람이 반드시 착용토록 하십시오.

d. Only use hands-free cell phone usage when driving on or off post.

어디에서든 운전할 때에는 반드시 핸즈프리로 통화 하도록 하십시오.

e. Ensure the driver has enough rest before making a trip. Fatigue causes complacency

which may cause an accident.

과로는 사고의 요인이 되므로 운전하기에 앞서 충분히 휴식을 취하십시오.

f. Remember, your responsibility is to keep your family safe from accidents.

여러분의 승용차에 동승한 가족의 생명이 여러분의 손에 달려 있음을

명심하십시오.

본인은 제 1 지역 시설 사령부에 근무하는 모든 한국인이 설날 연휴동안 행복하게

즐기시고 안전하게 돌아오시기를 바라며, 앞으로의 삶에 무한한 번영이 있기를 충심으로

기원합니다.
