Karen Woodward Atarie

The Sheeps Gate Church Korean school program has been a very intimate and caring environment for

helping our grand daughter to connect with her Korean heritage. Since Korean is not spoken regularly in

her home, this language immersion experience has been a very important part of her development.

The school uses music, art, games, stories, theatre and field trips to create a rich and enjoyable experience

that introduces her to speaking and writing in the Korean language as well as fostering a strong sense of

culture and history.

The staff is very warm and friendly and maintains an atmosphere that fosters

traditional values of respect and consideration for others while engaged in fun

activities. The curriculum is well developed, yet informal, and emphasizes

hands-on arts and crafts activity.

Since most of the children in the school are from Korean speaking households, the program is not set up

as primary language instruction, but rather emphasizes cultural heritage and writing. However, our

granddaughter has benefitted greatly through learning basic words and phrases, Korean alphabet and

developing a level of comfort with the language.
