‘n woonbuurt wat tot laatnag harde musiek speel en drank verkoop.

Nadia Janse van Rensburg Human het daarop gesê sy is bewus van ‘n plek in die dorp wat nie ‘n dranklisensie het nie, maar drank verkoop. Die drank word ook aan minderja-rige kinders verkoop.

Lt. Kol. Manjane het gesê die Polisie doen sporadiese besoeke aan plekke wat drank verkoop en sal die saak verder opvolg. Hy sal ook die voorval van die shebeen aan die Mahwelereng Polisie rapporteer.

Goetsch het terugvoering gegee oor die GPF SE dwelmveldtog wat tans by hoёrskole gehou word om leerders bewus te maak van die gevare van dwelms.

Die veldtog is ‘n groot sukses en word saam met die Polisie geloots.

Sangoma in court over teen brideMOKOPANE - A local sangoma appeared in the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Monday for breaching a court order preventing him from seeing his 13-year-old wife.

Prince Legodi (57) and the mother of the minor, Anna Laka (53), were also charged with sexual exploitation for reward, benefit from sexual exploitation, denying a child education and statutory rape.

Legodi and Laka are still in police custody after a bail application was denied on Monday.

A formal bail application will be heard in court on Friday according to Bertha Mashitiso, a police informant.

The sangoma was initially charged with marrying a minor, but the case was withdrawn in January.

A court order was then issued preven-ting him from seeing the girl, who was taken to a place of safety.

Posing as her uncle, Legodi went to see her on Friday.

Social workers went looking for her and found her at his house in Mahwe-lareng. Her mother was also there. Both adults were arrested for contravening the court order.

A group of about 50 people allegedly vandalised spaza shops owned by foreign-ers in Marapong when they returned from the funeral of local resident, Samu-el Makgane, on Saturday. Makgane was allegedly murdered the previous Sunday by four Zimbabwean nationals who appeared in court last week on charges of murder and were granted R1000 bail each.

Police Spokesperson, W. O. Frans Mokoe-na said the Lephalale police are in possesion of a list of eight names of people they believe are the main orchestrators of the attack on Saturday. A case of malicious damage to property has been opened against them.

Marapong Business Forum member, Herman Sedie, said he was in town when the alleged vandalism took place, but gathered from the community that the mob searched shops for the murder suspects with the aim of taking the matter into their own hands.

He also explained that the forum was supposed to meet with the department of home affairs and the municipality last week to discuss the matter of foreigners operat-ing businesses without correct permits. “People with no permits must go home and get correct papers for them to operate their businesses here.”

Home Affairs office manager, Puleng Phooko, would not comment, saying she does not have authority to speak to the media.

Shanisani ‘Ashifashaba’ Muleya from Ashi-fa Entertainment, in partnership with the National Youth Development Agency (nyda) have launched a “Be Limitless” film produc-tion campaign, where it will train 160 young people from the Mogalakwena district in the different fields of broadcast.

Altogether 800 people from Limpopo will be skilled as film-makers; actors; producers etc. The project kicked off at the Aboo Tayob Hall in Mokopane on Monday.

Speaking at the launch Ashifashaba said young people involved in the project will be empowered with skills to write scripts, operate film making machines, train actors, promote and distribute their work and get their work on South African channels.

Mogalakwena mayor, Thlalife Mashamai-te, described the project as a great initiative and said the youth of Mogalakwena should grab the opportunity with both hands as this was only the beginning of greater things to come.

In 2011 was daar uitbrake van hondsdolheid so naby as 15km buite Mokopane waarin ses beeste dood is en honde, sowel as mense daarmee in aanraking was. Deur positiewe reaksie en samewerking is 2 898 honde/katte gedurende 2012 in Mokopane geënt teenoor 1 647 in 2010 en 1 709 in 2011. Om u en u huisgesin te beskerm gaan beamptes van Veeartsenydienste gratis inentingsklinieke in Mokopane en Mookgophong hou.

Rabies vaccination

The chairperson of the Lephalale business forum (LBF), Justice Ledwaba, launched a scathing attack on the Lephalale Develop-ment Forum (LDF) this week.

In an open letter addressed to Lephalale's municipal manager (MM), Bob Naidoo; Exxaro’s Groo-tegeluk mine manager, Mervin Govender; Eskom CEO, Brian Dames and Public Enterprises minister, Malusi Gigaba, Ledwaba accused the LDF of privatising and marginalising the local municipality.

In the letter he calls for the immediate resignation of Naidoo, who he believes is serving the interest of big private companies instead of the local community. Ledwa-ba argues that the Lephalale community is not benefiting from the economic growth the town is currently experiencing.

Ledwaba emphatically states that the LBF will no longer attend LDF meetings and calls on businesses in Lephalale to rather attend stakeholder consultative meetings which will adopt a true transformation agenda.

The LDF responded to the letter on Thurs-day by saying that there is no truth to any of the accusations made by Ledwaba and that the forum will respond in an appropriate professional manner as soon as possible.

told Northern News that the Municipality will first seek advice before responding to the, what he calls, very serious allegations.

“I would, however, like to empha-sise that the municipality will continue to engage with investors big and small to make sure that the community of Lephalale bene-fits from these much needed investments. Our aim is to see the benefits filter through to every member of our community, not only in urban, but in rural areas as well.”

LEPHALALE- Ellisras High School’s u/18 soccer team played to a two all draw when they hosted Polokwanes’ Northern Academy School at the SAPC sports grounds on Saturday.

An attempt by Dimpho Meele was spectacularly saved by EHS goal-keeper, Kamogelo Mothiama in the early minutes. A few minutes after the attempt, the first goal was netted from a brilliantly taken free kick by Academy defender, Murphy Phooko, putting them in a lead but Paul Tselane of EHS put the hosts back in the game by equalising by a header. The first half ended in a draw. Tthe boys from EHS seemed like they were in a fighting mode and ready to win but the chilled Academy calmed them when Dimpho expanded their lead from a corner kick. Trailing from behind EHS didn’t take a lying down, they came out in full force and Masia Mabela came to their rescue and made it a draw.

Tania vertel sy het as die dogter van ‘n tandarts op Louis Trichardt grootgeword. “Tussen die berge op ons familieplaas het ek lief geraak vir die Bosveld. Hier het ek ook sedert ek agt jaar oud was gereeld saam met my pa gejag.”

Maar dit was tydens ‘n leeujag in die Kalahari saam met haar man, Christo en ‘n internasionale filmspan, waar sy vir die eerste keer besef het dat sy geroep is vir die jagbedryf.”

“Ons het vir ure deur dik sand geloop op soek na ‘n leeuwyfie. Die filmspan was besig om ‘n dokumentêr te skiet oor vroue-jagters en ek het geloop en bid: “Here help my asseblief dat hierdie skoot reg sal val.” Terwyl ons in stilte stap, elkeen met sy eie gedagtes, was dit asof iemand agter my kom staan en amper hoorbaar met my praat. Ek het op daardie oomblik baie sterk God se roeping op my lewe ervaar en geweet dat ek hier moet wees. Dat ek sover dit vir my moontlik is, Sy Koningkryk in die jag-en wildbedryf moet uitleef. Ek was half uit die veld geslaan, maar het in daardie stadium vir niemand daarvan gesê nie.”

‘n Paar maande daarna, in Mei 2007, is Christo tydens ‘n jagtog in Botswana deur ‘n olifantkoei gestorm en noodlotig bese-er. Ten spyte van die skok en verlies moes Tania daardieselfde dag nog ‘n besluit neem oor haar en haar drie jong dogters se toekoms.

“Christo was nie meer daar om my te help met die besluit nie en al waaraan ek kon vashou was God se woorde aan my. Ek moes besluit of ek alleen sou voortgaan met Unico - ‘n droom wat ek en Christo saam sedert 1999 opgebou het. Tania en haar span fokus nie net op die jagbedryf nie maar teel ook baie suksesvol met onder meer goue wildebeeste, siek-tevrye Kruger-lyn buffels, nyalas en top gehalte troffee-wild.

Saam met ‘n vennoot kon hulle ook twee baie besonderse swartwitpens teeltroppe vestig.

Tania glo dat haar aktiewe betrokken-heid as vrou in die wildbedryf, ‘n getuie-nis is van God se getrouheid. Sy kry dan ook gereeld geleentheid om in lande soos Amerika as spreker op te tree waar sy graag vroue bemoedig om ondanks hul omstandighede, hulle vertroue in God te plaas.
