No matter whether you like it or not, the Audi A1 is a premium branded retro chic. It is not a particular replica of an old Audi or its former model. However, it has a refreshing styling that makes it stands out as a modern classic. MINI, Chrysler PT Cruiser, Volkswagen Beetle and even Toyota FJ Cruiser have given it a go, but Audi A1 is just mind blowing, a surprise creation just like the most popular TT. A1 is elegant, unique and functionally styled. Something coming out of no where, simply just a piece of art in a moving canvas that is both highly attracted and respected by the young city professionals who would queue up and tailor it for their post modern image.
Deep down beneath the curves, lie a very respectable turbo petrol engine and its 7 speed S-tronic automatic gear box. A1 has almost an identical mechanical package that shares with the new Volkswagen Polo. The major difference between the both is a slightly wider front track and lower ride height for the A1. Apart from that, you will have no trouble in entrusting that the A1 is
surely a loyal and supportive partner for your travelling need and up market personal lifestyle.
Its 1.4litre TFSI petrol turbo engine produces a healthy 90kW of power and 200Nm of torque. In addition, it just sips around 5.5 litre of petrol for every 100km and emitting just 124g of CO2 per km.
The A1 is a highly personalized car, a personal pet to be exact. While doing just that, the base price of just $29,990 will soar very quickly. For example the seven-speed S-tronic gear box is $2,300 extra, blue tooth connectivity is $1,800 extra, a set of air vent sleeves is $305 per set. The highly noticeable contrasting arches are $720 extra. Yet, A1 is meant for a highly personalize model that helps its owners to excel.

and it is up for its job. The front seats are very comfortable and supportive. A1 cleverly utilizes all four corners of the fuselage, a good size of head and leg room for a pair of adult passengers, normally they will be suffering from cramping conditions in the rivals’ cabin. A1 also gives you more cabin and stowage space than its similar rivals, try putting a stroller into the rival’s boot, you will feel the generosity of the A1. As a matter of fact, the A1 is not much bigger than a Honda Jazz. However, its customers will feel it as a comfortable premium compact home rather than just any car.
The built quality of the A1 is excellent with superb noise insulation against road and wind noise. When using automatic Stop-start technology, it is also an environmental crusader. You can turn the Stop-start off, however, its re-start time is just a split second with seamless operation. Hence, its worth to keep that all important green and healthy credentials as well.
The interior décor is refreshing with the clever use of painted matching colour of air vent sleeves. The instrument panel and central console are also very user-friendly. The pop up 6.5 inch monitor is as good as you can get, Sat Nav is optional. But the its owners will appreciate its freshness, quality and practicality.
When driving the A1, it easily gives you the idea that it is just right. You wouldn’t be thinking of driving a small sailing boat, but it helps you to park into tight road side car park and travel into small city laneway. Suspension is just balanced to give you important information about how to accelerate, slow down and cornering. Steering is neutral and gives you enough feel about humps and bumps. When you are in a hurry, the “Sport” gives you that split
second assurance of just doing the right think for a right hand turn or just escape from a possible trouble?
Think about individuality, the A1 is a must for those who can afford for a premium compact “Modern Art” from Audi Germany.
