When I was home on furlough, more than one person told me I was too restrained Jin my :app.eals for support. This letter is not exactly restrained, butmy trust is st i l l in the Lord who is able to supply our needs exceedlinglyabundantly. I know He wil l move human hearts and hands. There are many things for which to praise the Lord. y trip on August Ik and15 was safe and pleasant. Kalbs met me at the Accra airport and I met two yearold Kofi . David for the first time. It is good to be working together again*.After my house, Barbara and I housecleaned a college house in preparationfor the Bridges. Carl and Glenda, with l i t t le Cindy and Donny, arrived safelyon August 25 after a very difficult t r ip. They were bumped in Abidjan andspent an unexpected 2k hours there with no luggage and no diapers for Donny. After some rearranging and painting, they are nicely settled with the basics ofhousekeeping. If the prices were a shock to me after six years, imagine what theyare to Glenda on her very f i r s t term here .Orienta t ion was yesterday. Fourteen new s tudents have come with one moreexpected. This gives us a grand total of 26, the most we have ever had, I believe,We a^e grateful for this good beginning. It also presents a challenge ofdifficult-to-pronounce names to learnSeven of the students are Nigerians recruited by the Revival Fires MinistryThere. Their food allowance is given through that ministry..There is a lo t of work to be done. I am anxious to get involved in theSunday School and Bible Clubs again, but I must get my own classes in order f i rs t .I am th ankfu l to be able to share the use o f T ay lo r's small Fiat with theBridges. This past July, the government reduced the import taxes a l i t t le oncars . Maybe t h a t s the reason God stopped my order.. I wil l be able to orderone from here, but ive haven't taken time to go to the company yet.The roads are in fairly good condition because i t has been an unusually dryyear. And the.weather has been gloriously coolI sleep with an extra bedspreadevery night After two years of a Baily Bridge on the main road into toWh,the n^w bridge is finally done and i t is a wonderful relief. n our first Joint

chopping:,trip, last, week, .Glenda and I happened tr> hp in a stniiejust as they-put out a small supply of to i l e t paper. We were delighte d to be allowed two ro l l sapiece. And flour is back in a few stores after being gone for months. ,1 amenjoying avocadoes and African drums. The three l i t t les t Americans have a placeof the:j,r own in my heart already. It was great to sit under Christian Adjei'spreaching again. In addition to our old col lege slogan that has proved to beof great value on many occasions Something is better than nothing. ), we havea new one . . . Don t be depress ing . Yes, we still have a shred of humor l e f t .Or humour, if you a re Br i t i s h .

I f you are i nt er es ted in sending a food box, write me for suggest ions andmaybe a certaind month. Kalbs fed me so well my f irst three weeks here, Idon t think I 've lost an oui-.-^e yet .I love you a l l even though you may have doubted i t for the f i rs t two-
