I attended the iX35 launch some time ago. Form memory, it is of a similar size to the VW Tiguan. I think this kind of car, across between AWD and a sedan, is the most wanted in Australia, Sales up 35% in the segment when compared to people buying small sedans.
The Mitsubishi ASX Aspire 2.0litre has a lot of power tools in it. I mean the all panorama glass roof with a power curtain. Then, it has the automatic folding side mirrors which fold in neatly, when you leave the car. Last but not the least, the multiple-way adjusted and heated power front seats is a heavenly gift for the ASX. Most importantly, its size is right.
The ASX Aspire being the hamburger with the lot, meaning fully equipped as an all wheel drive. It powers four wheels or just the front two, and can be locked up for a little bit more serious four wheel drive, if required. But don’t be too adventurous. I will definitely not going to the Kimberley with the Aspire.
But, it will be nice to go to the Grampian or for that matter.
The Aspire has a very nice suspension setting, sort of floating through bumps and gliding through pot holes. So it is nearly as smooth as a hovercraft in a certain way. The steering is quite neutral, quite direct and as a matter of fact rather nice when you turn it. The steer system has tilt and reach adjustment and is very efficient. U turn is at the good but not excellent level; but, do you do U turns these days? Not really. So, control is more important than maneuverability. I am not saying it is not easy to control, but on the other hand, it is the law of physics that determines a lot of thing about machinery. Would you agree?

racing business alike. However, the angle of the ASX is not as steep and forward leaning from the top, sort of like a Great White Shark, so the mean look is not so powerful. But, it is still very mean and exciting.
Practicality of the ASX. It has nearly everything. Shopping hinges at the back for shopping. If you didn’t have noticed, it has a double level parcel shelf. No, it is actually a floor shelf. If you opt for the space saver tyre, you will have that double level parcel shelf. If not, bad luck, you will have a rather shallow boot at the back. But I think I just need the space saver; it is because over the last 15 years, I have just changed one tyre. By the way, I can always call Road Side Assist. So, I can drive again. Boot space is important to everyone. Also, the bottom parcel shelf is so discreet that you can hide something in there. Would you agree with me? Well, how does it drive like?The ASX comes from a pedigree rally racing family; so the ASX Aspire will not disappoint you. It is fast and full of interactive opportunities...such as the paddle shift at the back of the steering wheels. But, if you are thinking about drag racing or shoot through a red light, then, I have to remind you, with the ASX Aspire you will lose your precious license in no time. On the other hand, it can go fast. Enjoy the music from the {Tickford Forgate} sound system, and also the huge subwoofer at the back instead. I think a lot of people brought Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander and now ASX Aspire because they love the huge subwoofer at the back. Obviously, the image and the speed are crucial to the success of the next generation Mitsubishi. The acceleration is smooth, powerful and dynamic. One particular note I want to make was that: the CVT is smooth, but you have to adjust to it characteristics. You need to accelerate as hard or gentle as you like, but I feel I have to easy off a little, then, the speed is already at the legal limit. Hence, it is extremely smooth. You basically don’t feel that it has a 2nd, 3rd, fourth, fifth or even six gear. It is just that

smooth. On the safe side, it has everything you need if you are in trouble, either made by you or the other party.
Built qualityIt is excellent. The noise dampening material was well worth all the money invested by Mitsubishi. Apart from wind noise from the wind screen, it is one of the quietest cars in its class. Tyre noises are well maintained. There is also no rattling, bang or any strange and uninvited noise. It is peaceful and quiet for you to enjoy the music that you like. I also noticed the huge Sat-Nav multi purpose screen from the Ralliart model, it also dubbed as the reverse monitor as well. Form memory, the heated seat is the best I ever had, not only it warms the seat area, but it also warms even heat up the back area. It is even better than the most luxurious seats of the top model Lexus.
Last wordsYou may want to compare with the ASX with the others such as iX35, VW Tiguan and the new comer KIA Sportage. Have a look at the ASX and judge for yourself. Korean, Japanese and German technology? Make your own decision. The ASX Aspire is well worth a test drive and a parking space in your car port or garage.
